Unplugged

The power to live according to God's standards comes only when we plug into His inexhaustible power. How do we do that? By daily seeking His face and asking Him to fill us with His Holy Spirit.

I thought for a moment after I read a devotional written by C.P. Hia in "Our Daily Bread". A few days earlier, before going to bed, I noticed my phone charger was unplugged. I plugged it back in, plugged in my phone and hopped into bed fully confident that the next morning my phone, which was at 35% would be fully charged once again.

I was wrong.

The next morning, I picked up my phone and discovered it was nearly dead. What happened? I checked the cord going into the phone and yes, that was firmly attached. Then what...?

My eyes drifted over the the outlet and I groaned. I had forgotten that the bottom outlet is defective and I probably need to have it replaced. Something is not quite right and while the top outlet is secure, the bottom outlet tends to start out good but over time, it slowly expells the plug causing the connection to loosen. It may look like it is plugged in still but a close examination and a plugged in phone that isn't charged reveal the truth. Just because something looks connected, doesn't mean it necessarily is. Hmm...

Am I truly plugged into God or do I just think I am? Are you?

We need to check our connection, not just once but constantly.
