Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.- Titus 3:5-7
We are unable to earn salvation and yet, what are we willing to sacrifice for the sake of the Gospel? Are we required to give up anything? I believe we are.
We are required to set aside our own wants and desires and take up those of Christ. We are required to turn from our own path, take up our cross and follow Christ. This is what a child of God does and if we are not following Christ, then we need to take a good hard look at ourselves and see exactly who we are following! Perhaps we are not who we profess to be or even who we think we are...
We are quick to say what we want but are we willing to take a good hard look at what we are willing to sacrifice for the sake of Jesus Christ? What are we willing to sacrifice? Our social standing? Our career? Money? Property? What about our reputation? Are we willing to speak out and endure ridicule or do we cower in silence because we are afraid people will think we are some sort of religious nut?
Are we willing to sacrifice our dreams and ambitions? Are we willing to sacrifice marriage if God says no? Are we willing to give all away if God were to ask us to do so? What if the road He chooses for us involves, suffering, sorrow, disability, health issues or involves a major step out of our comfort zone? Are we willing to do it?
What are we willing to give? What am I willing to give?
