Yesterday, I was sharing with some friends that I am frequently reminded that I have a rather broken-down body. In the middle of my complaining I suddenly stopped. When I stopped to consider the physical trauma my body has endured over the past few years I realized something. I have an amazing body!
Yes, I had gone through cancer treatment which wrecked havoc on my immune system but I watched it doggedly fight it's way back each and every time, no matter how many times it got knocked back down. I had a cerebral aneurysm rupture but as my neurosurgeon would later say, he watched my body do exactly what it was designed to do in a crisis like this. It got me out of the way, shut down non-essential operations, tried to contain the "mess" and stop the leak and started clean up operations immediately. That is amazing!
You know, we often do the same thing with God. So often we focus on either what we want God to do or what we think He has not done for us. Do we ever really take the time to consider the things which He has done for us?
This is what he has done for me...
He took me from a fearful pit,
and from the miry clay,
And on a rock he set my feet,
establishing my way.
He put a new song in my mouth,
our God to magnify:
Many shall see it, and shall fear,
and on the Lord rely.
