Joy! How I love that word! Into the deepest, darkest pits of my life has come... joy!
I have followed Christ since I was a child of seven. I have encountered things such as ridicule, loneliness, fear, uncertainty, unemployment, grief and life-threatening illnesses. Yet I have found that truly the joy of the Lord is my strength. I have learned that we are not victims of our circumstances, we are victors over them through Jesus Christ Our Lord. I have learned that we can have the joy of the Lord... even when we walk with sorrow and suffering.
Yet, any joy which I experience in this world cannot begin to even compare to the joy which is yet to be. As much as I love to be in His presence in the here and now, it is but a shadow of what is to be. We must never forget that. It is something which is beyond our imagination.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Our "light affliction" is only for a moment. It really is event though it seems much longer at the time. Oh the joy which springs up within my heart when I remember, the VERY best is yet to be!
