She awakened suddenly in the middle of the night believing that there was a scary monster after her. Surrounded by the darkness, her heart racing, the frightened child screamed. A moment later, she was sobbing in the arms of her father who rushed into the bedroom the moment he heard his daughter's cry.
It did not take him long to realize that his daughter was not hurt, only frightened by... a cricket.
Her father neither scolded nor laughed at his little daughter. Though she had no reason to fear, he knew she was still afraid. He could have simply told her not to be afraid but he didn't do that. Instead, he calmed her in his arms for a moment and told her that daddy would take care of it... and he did.
Over the years the girl, now a woman, would at times find herself crying out in the darkness once again. When she did she remembered how her earthly father rushed to her side to protect her and calm her fears. How much more so does her Heavenly Father do the same?
I was 16 years old when my father died. More than 35 years later I still remember how alone and afraid I felt on that day. However, I also remember how as I cried out in "the night" that day, I became aware that my Heavenly Father was right there with me, just like He'd always been and I do not have to be lonely or afraid. I'm his "little girl", His precious daughter. He loves me, holds me, protects me and will never leave my side... and the same is true for you.
You were doubly blessed! For one reason or another, many girls and boys grow up without the blessing of a loving, protective natural father like yours. I was one of those but by the grace of God, I had a loving, protective, Christian mommy and He used her to help me find Him. Now, I can say with confidence that I am now and forevermore safe in the arms of my loving heavenly Abba.
Thanks for sharing and encouraging us all.
