When You Think You've Reached Your Limit...

I have to admit, it is amazing what we really can endure. While we're in the midst of a horrible and painful situation, we may think "This is it. I can't go any further. I've reached my limit." Interestingly enough, even in the secular world we see people push themselves just a little bit further. People survive things which you expected would have killed them. People often continue to persevere and survive against insurmountable odds. I suspect we're made of far more stronger stuff than what we often think. God knew we would need it.

That being said, we all do have a breaking point. I believe that breaking point occurs when we have lost hope. The enemy has convinced us that it is all over. God is asking too much of us. There is no way a loving God would ever put us through this therefore there must not be a loving God therefore why are you fighting. Nothing matters anyways. Everything is hopeless!

God is a God of hope! Even as sin separated us from God in the garden, God proclaims words of hope:[bible]Genesis 3:15[/bible]All is not lost! This separation will not last forever. The message of hope is proclaimed. We will one day be reconciled to God...if we so desire it!

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, 1 Peter 1:3,4

Once we start walking in the way of hope, attempts will be made to try to destroy our hope. We find ourselves in dark, stormy, lonely places. We don't always feel the presence of God like we did or at least we think we don't. People just don't understand. Surely God isn't going to make me go down there! That's not fair! How can he possibly expect that from me? No one ought to have to do that!

We quickly forget the words of 1 Corinthians 10:13 (MSG)

13No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he'll never let you be pushed past your limit; he'll always be there to help you come through it.
Anyone can say these words when they feel safe and secure but if you're in the water out on the high seas, it can be a different story. That's where faith comes in. Either you believe God...or you don't. Only you can make that choice. That's called faith.

13May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NIV)

I'm playing around in the attic and saw a box called 'Kreynolds Archive'. I blew off the dust and am taking a look. Maybe there was a reason I missed this blog 8 years ago when you posted it , for it is meant for me now in this current season. ***
