For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—ourfaith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:4-5 (NKJV)
The pair of minature pink boxing gloves pictured to the right are pretty special to me. They have hung on on my computer monitor (I've had several) since 2008. They hang there for a reason.
In mid-October 2007, I attended Women of Faith and watched Nicole Johnson do a dramatic piece called "Stepping Into The Ring" which is about a woman who learns she has breast cancer. About six weeks later... I was that woman. During treatment, someone on one of the breast cancer boards mentioned this piece. I remembered it and quickly found it on YouTube. I was moved to tears and wrote a letter to the Nicole Johnson sharing my story. I got a response from her assistant a few days later actually and amongst other things, I was sent a my little boxing gloves.
I looked at them a lot during treatment. I continue to do so today which is why they hang where they do. They remind me that regardless of what I face, I must never give up. Through Jesus Christ, I can face all things, even when it seems like I can't.
Life has been pretty rough since I got my little pink boxing gloves. I have faced several life-threatening illnesses, developed type 2 diabetes and just recently learned that I have trigeminal neuralgia. Both my husband and I have faced job loss. We have watched our son and daughter-in-law go through some very difficult challenges of their own. In our family, we have learned more about trusting God than we had ever known before.
You may be facing some very tough battles of your own. You may be feeling rather beaten-up and turned inside out. You may feel like you are lying flat on your face while the enemy mocks you. If you are, this blog is for you.
Don't EVER give up. Regardless of what anyone may say, including the enemy, you are an overcomer through Jesus Christ! May these two videos bless and encourage you.
God has said that he will never leave us or forsake us - this I believe to be true.
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me ... to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. selection from Is 61.
You and your family are undoubtedly "precious" beyond words to the Lord, because God has brought you through these sufferings with testimony after testimony of His faithfulness; and those testimonies have spoken volumes about the richness of faith and trust in God when it comes to "completely trusting in Him."
[blockquote]And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. [/blockquote]
God bless you, dear one, and please know that I will be holding you and yours up to Our Heavenly Father in prayer.
You're absolutely right, Abbie. It is so easy to forget who we are. That is the last thing the enemy wants us to do! I am very thankful that the reality of it all is that we are the children of the King and we must never forget it. We must be reminded of that at times, however.
