I find myself strangely reluctant to write this blog. I was reminded yesterday that when I publish this blog, I will be running neck and neck with my friend @blessings2you who passed away in May of 2016. At the time of his death, he had published 2,286 blogs on CB making him by far the most prolific blogger on CB and probably the blogger most mentioned here. In addition to that, he was a faithful supporter of this website and personally, at his own expense, traveled to meet some fellow CB members, myself included. I wish I could say he had a headstart on me but he started his race here on CB about 2 1/2 months after me. What can I say? I'm a bit slow!
His username, "Blessings2you" was very fitting for that was his desire. He had a big heart, the heart of a servant and he met people where they were. If you were in crisis (and even if you weren't), he was the sort of friend that you knew would be right there beside you whether in body or spirit. That's important you know. It is important to know that you are not alone and he understood that perfectly.
Though we lived 500 miles away from the "B2Y Ranch", my husband and I were privileged to be guests there on more than one occasion. It was, in fact, an oasis during the most difficult period of our lives. I'm smiling right now as I recall how our conversation and laughter would echo long into the night as we sat at the dining room table playing games and enjoying a delicious desert @blest had prepared.
On reaching this point, Beth posted on my last blog "One more blog... The end of an era. Kirk would be thrilled. He'd say, "You go girl!"
That brought tears to my eyes and then a smile because I knew it was true. He would tell me that he could say, like the Apostle Paul:
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
BUT... my race is not yet over and he would tell me that I'd better keep on running until I too crossed the finish line.
Today I am publishing my 2,286th blog and for a moment, blog-wise, I will be running neck and neck with my friend "B2Y" but then, God willing, I will keep on running and publish blog 2,287th. Yeah, I think Beth is right. Kirk would be thrilled and I would hear his voice above all the rest yelling, "YOU GO GIRL!"
