Another busy day. Tons of dirty clothes to wash, dry, fold, and put away. How does one little boy create so much laundry? I was putting shirts in D.'s chest of draws when he entered the room. For a 9 year old boy, D. is really into clothes. He smiled at me absently, and gathered up the toy cars he'd come for. "I sure am blessed with lots of clothes, huh, Mom?" he asked before rushing off with his toys. Blessed? Well, yes, he is! His godmother and another lady at our church had given him some very nice new things at Christmas, and several people have given him things outgrown by their children. We hadn't had to buy him much lately... I had been grumping over something that I should have praising God for! And it's not an isolated incident. One of my least favorite chores is grocery shopping. Once a month, I drive about 60 miles to the nearest military commissary to stock up one food. Arriving home, I have a month's worth of food to unload from my car, and store in our pantry and freezer. I'm tired. Things don't fit where I want them to. The apple bag bursts and apples roll out onto the floor... Frustrating! I shut the fridge door. There is a picture on my refridgerator of another small boy, Mario. Our family sponcers Mario, so that he can go to school, learn about God, have clothes, eat. Here I am, grouching over having to put away food, while in Mario's neighborhood, children are wondering if there will BE any food tonight. Forgive me, Father, for taking your blessings so lightly. Help me have a grateful heart. Amen.
Nice one Marjorie! We are indeed blessed!
ps I get to shop fortnightly. This week we are going further afield so I can borrow a wheelchair as the likelihood of my leg holding out for the length of time it takes me to shop is negligible! Life in a new dimension...it always adds interest to daily living.
Every blessing my friend!
oh...and we love the "stinkin' thinkin'"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
The Spirit has interesting ways of "putting us in our place", doesn't He, Marjorie!
For the first time in over two years, I had some "bad" things happen that got under my skin. I was frustrated and angry over what is, in reality, trivial. then got home to pics of the granddaughters. Really put things in perspective.
We do have to count our blessings, even in the messes of chores and laundry.
BTW, I've had a VERY GOOD day!
The Lord says to count our blessings, name them one by one. You are surely counting your many blessings, Marjorie. Praise the Lord.

This is absolutely beautiful! It seems all too often that we're caught up in our everyday chores so we forget to pause and simply thank God for all of our many blessings. I think both Mario & D are very blessed to have you in their lives. :)
God must be very proud of you!!! You seem to have abounding love & compassion. Furthermore, the fact that you realize when you're moving too quickly so you stop & remember that you're rich in a way that the world can't strip you of is a huge milestone! Continue to remember what a beautiful impact you're having on these kids & how much they're impacting your life in return. :)
God's Love always,
