This will only be a short Message but I have been concerned for some time now, that we do not seem to have much ministry on this subject. HE IS HOLY. Sometimes it is hard to comprehend, but I feel we must always remember this. This is our God, who cannot look upon sin, and hence the need for Calvary. He is our Friend, our Comforter, Almighty God,and when we come into His presence, we must remember that HE IS THE HOLY GOD. I am not a theologian, but just a sinner saved by grace. I am hoping that this will open up some discussion by people more able than me. God Bless, Mumbly
Totally agree with you on this one!
One of the few books I re-read is [amazon=0060684127]Knowledge of the Holy[/amazon] by A.W. Tozer.
I often read 3-7 books a month, and hardly EVER re-read a book... but the one book I try to read at least once a year is this book!!
If you haven't read it, ask your pastor(s) if they have a copy you can borrow, or just go [amazon=0060684127]grab[/amazon] a copy of it for yourself.
I know more people that have learned about the Holiness of God from this book, than any other exo-biblical text ever written!
Blessings to you,
John B. Abela
Talking about coming into His presence reminds me of Psalm 100:
"Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
"Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;[a]
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
"Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations." Psalm 100 (NKJV)
We must remember that we too are holy, in Christ, that is, as scripture says, "It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption." 1 Cor 1:30 (NIV)
And when we come into His presence, we can have solace in that we can boldly come, thanks to our Lord Jesus, the Christ, as scripture says, "Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus ... Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 10:19; Hebrews 4:16
Please see my blog entry titled, "[blog=hectorc/how-to-be-a-holy-christian]How to be a holy Christian[/blog]," under the [category=christian-life]Christian Life[/category] category. Read it, and let's talk about it, or maybe even "chat" about it.
"Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty."
Notice how many times the angels used that word in Isaiah? I think that if Christians would only realize this fact it would revolutionize the church. He truly is set apart. He is not like the ordinary around us; He is beyond it and above it. God is GOD...God is Holy.
That has ramifications in many areas of life:
His love is radically different than anything on earth.
His mercy is longer than we could know.
His grace is greater than our sin.
His strength is stronger than our problems.
Holy, Holy, Holy is my Lord and God!
My meaning to your message is that God despite His holiness , He is also loving.
Before we knew who He is His , He was loving us.
A love like this is to hard to comprehend.
I must say i have known God nearer all of my life.
Yes i admit that there have times when i faltered along the way, but his unfailing love has brought me this far.
All i have to do is to watch my steps.
