Creation Series: Day 4 Continued - Sun on Day 4, Why Not Day 1? Plus More

(God is Literal: Creation Account Series)

One important truth to keep in mind is God's act of Creation was a one time "supernatural" event.

How could the first 3 days of the Creation Week have been real 24 hour days when the sun wasn't created until Day 4? Many have not thought this through as Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis discusses on a podcast made in August, 2005. He explains that the sun is not really needed for there to be day and night. "You just need light from one direction." God said "Let there be light" on Day 1. On Day 4, God replaced this temporary light with Earth's sun.

Ham suggests that God may have waited until Day 4 to create the sun because He knew many cultures would want to worship it. God told the Israelites not to worship the sun as the heathens do.

Deuteronomy 17:2-4 (KJV) 2 "If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman who hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God in transgressing His covenant, 3 and hath gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, 4 and it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it and inquired diligently, and behold, it be true and the thing certain that such abomination is wrought in Israel,

In addition, evolution teaches that the sun existed before the Earth. Could God's order of Creation be one of His responses, recorded several thousand years ago, to the theory of evolution, the gap theory, the day age theory, etc? These theories DO NOT line up with God's Word.

Those who do not want to be held accountable to God and/or those who do not believe it is necessary to accept God's simple literal version of Creation are looking to find "natural" answers to something "supernatural." Something that came from our ONE and ONLY "supernatural" God.

Creation Series: Supplement-Creation Six Ordinary Days

Vision of Light, Darkness and Water
As I have shared in another blog leading up to the writing of this series: Several months ago, I experienced a precious and deeply touching experience. I received a vision as I was pondering how to approach explaining water and light as described in Genesis 1: 2-5.

In this simple vision, I am looking down from high above and through the darkness in the far off distance I see light and a patch of water.

What I sensed and believe God was doing was giving me a glimpse of the beginning, His beginning of the process for His creation of our physical earth and heavens. He was showing me that the earth took on form first before Earth's sun and moon were created and stars put in place.

God formed the heavens and their hosts on Day 4. He did His spoken work in the order described in Genesis 1. He created all in His order to prepare for the creation of man and woman and their habitation of this physical, natural earth.

The Sun Is Shrinking
In December of 2001, one evening, I tuned in to the program called Creation in the 21st Century for the first time. What really stood out to me was the information about the sun. The host, Dr. Carl Baugh, discussed the decreasing diameter of the sun. He said that the sun has been steadily decreasing in size and even 20,000 years ago the heat of the sun would have been too great for life to exist on the face of the earth.

Additional research information: In a news wire from March 23, 1980, it was reported that for over a hundred years scientists have been watching the change taking place in the sun's diameter. The evidence shows that the sun's diameter has been decreasing by about one tenth percent per century, which translates to the sun shrinking about five feet per hour. If you believe the literal truth of the Bible that God's Creation Week took place 6,000 years ago then there isn't any real problem. In 6,000 years the sun has shrunk about 6%. However, if the sun existed 100,000 years ago, it would have been double its present diameter. Twenty million years ago, the surface of the sun would have been touching the Earth.

The Receding Moon
God gave the moon the job of regulating Earth's ocean tide. The moon is moving away from the Earth a couple centimeters every year, yet it is around the perfect distance to create good ocean tides on Earth. If the universe was millions of years old, the moon would have started out so close to the Earth it would have smashed into it and by now it would have been far out of sight! If the universe was only 6,000 years old, the moon would still be able to do its job at the right distance.

The Universe Was Created Recently
As I was reviewing information about the Universe, I came across this short summary published to share with others by the Institute for Creation Research:

"Many clock-like processes operating in the solar system and beyond indicate that the universe is young. For example, spiral galaxies should not exist if they are billions of years old. The stars near their centers rotate around the galactic cores faster than stars at the perimeters. If a cosmology based on long ages is correct, they should have blended into disk-shaped galaxies by now.

Comets pose a similar problem. They lose material each time they pass around the sun. Why would they still exist after vast eons? Saturn's rings still look new and shiny. And many planets and moons are very geologically active. Surely the energy they continually expend should have been spent long ago if they are as old as they are usually claimed to be.

Instead, the more astronomers learn about the heavens, the more evidence there is that the universe is young."

Billy Beard @billyb ·

Thanks for another one Dorothy. This may seem prideful to many, but this is in humility, I am smart enough to believe it all happened exactly as God reveals in His word, instead of dumb enough to believe man knows more about it than God does. Faith perhaps? Ouch!

God Bless Sister.

Well said billy!

Our belief and trust in God and His Word from the very first verse of Genesis is what we are told in scripture strenghthens faith. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by The Word of God." It comes no other way. God was there when He created Earth and the universe. Let's believe and trust Him and His Word!!

God Bless Bro,

Again, Sister Dorothy-thank you for sharing the Truth of His Creation account! I highly recommend checking out a study called Creation Science Teaching Hearts, as well! God Bless you richly! Dave
