As you may know, I am working on a series of blogs titled God Is Literal: The Creation Account. The series will consist of a good number of blogs and I will be writing about each day of the Creation Week and introducing a sizeable amount of physical evidence. This is the fourth blog in the series.
It was about ten days ago, as I was meditating on how to approach explaining water and light described in Genesis 1:1-5, I experienced a vision. In the vision, I am looking downward from high above. I see darkness and in the far distance I see light and a patch of water. As I am experiencing this, I realize God is giving me a small glimpse of His creation process in progress. This was a precious and deeply touching experience. Within a short time, I felt the impact of what God was impressing upon me. God literally formed and prepared the earth first and then He created Earth's sun and moon and also the stars. He did the spoken work in His order preparing for mankind's habitation. Thus, I will now stand solidly on the belief that the universe is not older than the Earth. I went to God's Word to verify and sure enough there it is clearly and simply spelled out for us. For me, the revelation confirms the true age of the Earth.
Without form with water needed for creation of life and to support life on Earth
Day 1 Light created-Day and separated from Darkness-Night - Time begins
Day 2 Dividing of waters to form atmosphere surrounding Earth
Day 3 Waters gathered together in one place to form one large mass of dry land and grass, herbs and fruit trees appear
Sun, Moon, and Stars Created
Day 4 Lights created - a larger light, the sun to rule the Day, and a lesser light, the moon to rule the Night. The formed Earth is placed in position and begins to orbit around the sun and the moon is positioned to orbit around the newly formed Earth. God made and positioned stars in the universe on Day 4, too.
Day 1 is when time begins for mankind and for the physical creation of the universe - heavens, earth and all living things.
Scriptures Spell Out the Length of Each Day of Creation Week
How long was each day of the Creation week? Each day was literally an ordinary regular day. The Old Testament proves this for us.
The Hebrew word for day (yom) in the singular or plural form is used 2,301 times in the Old Testament.
Let's first look at the uses of day outside of Genesis 1. Whenever the word day (yom) is used with a number (over 400 times); whenever the phrase 'evening or morning' is used without the word day (38 times); whenever the words 'evening' and 'morning' are used individually with the word day (23 times each); and whenever the word 'night' is used with the word day (52 times), the word day (yom) always means an ordinary day with no exceptions.
Okay. Now let's look at Genesis Chapter 1, the Account of Creation. You will notice that the first time the word day is used, it is qualified with the words night, evening, morning and number (verse 5 "And God called the light Day and the darkness he called night. And the evening and the morning were the first day") For each of the other times the word day is used for the six days of Creation, it is qualified with a number and the words evening and morning. (Verse 8 "And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day." Verse 13 "And the evening and the morning were the third day." Verse 19 "And the evening and the morning were the fourth day." Verse 23 "And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.")
The use of the qualifiers with the word day in Genesis Chapter 1 makes it clear and obvious that we are to understand the word day in God's account of Creation is an ordinary day and not an extended period of time. God gave the account of Creation directly to Moses.
God expresses Himself clearly in Exodus 20:11, "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." And Exodus 31:17, "It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed."
Scriptures Tell Us the Age of Earth
God meticulously provides for us the human lineage of Jesus Christ from Adam through Noah in Genesis Chapter 5 and from Noah's son Shem through Abraham in Genesis Chapter 11. The remaining generations leading up to the birth of Jesus Christ are listed in Matthew 1 and meticulously recorded by the Jewish people. When you work with this genealogical information and add to it the 2,000 years since the birth of Jesus, the total comes very close to 6,000 years. Since, Adam was formed out of the dust of the earth by God on Day 6 of the Creation Week, the accurate age of the earth is very close to 6,000 years.
Scripture provides the order of the physical Creation of Earth, Heavens, All Living Things and Man - Earth formed first.
Scripture interpreting scripture tells us the length of each Day of the Creation week - One literal ordinary day.
Scriptures combine to tell us the Age of the Earth - through the human lineage of Jesus Christ.
Earth created in six literal days about 6,000 years ago.

Upcoming blogs will discuss God and Angels and will look at the problems with the useage of fossil evidence. Fossils were deposited from the worldwide flood that occurred about 4400 years ago in the time of Noah.
Thank you for sharing Sister Dorothy! Am looking forward to this series! God Bless you richly! Dave
This is like Answers In Genesis. This is great information that needs to be shared. Too often, when non-believers grill Christians, Christians don't have enough knowledge of God's Word and some, tragically, believe the lies of the unbelieving world rather than trusting God for the truth.
