Healing Miracles: From the Sense of Lingering Death to a Renewed Sense of Life
"In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said. This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover."
"Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, Remember, O Lord how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes. And Hezekiah wept bitterly."
"Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people, This is what the Lord, the God of your father David says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears, I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. I will add fifteen years to your life." 2 Kings 20:1-6
2 Kings 20 was one of the chapters included in a Bible study on the history of Israel. The words underlined above struck me. They hold special personal meaning.
After being born again and filled with the Holy Spirit on Tuesday, October 2, 2001, one of the first phrases the Holy Spirit spoke to me was "put your house in order." He did not tell me I was going to die, but since early September I had the sense I was dying and this sense of death lingered over me.
I am ashamed of how I abused my physical body over the years by not taking care of myself and not being able to establish healthy eating and exercise habits. As I repented, early that Tuesday morning I wept for two and a half hours as I called out to God. On the third day after being born again, I made appointments with a family practitioner and the cardiologist who had cared for me at the time I had a stroke in February 2000.
On or about October 10, 2001, at around 12:30 a.m., as I was praying a healing miracle took place. It began with my experiencing an unusual sensation travel throughout my body. It is hard to describe. The best I can do is liken it to a thin laser-type ray that I could distinctly feel as it traveled throughout my body. It traveled in a synchronized way down both legs at once, out into both arms, up my torso and into my head. It kept traveling throughout my body, up and down, back and forth, for about twenty minutes. Afterwards, I simply fell asleep.
In the morning, I didn't feel any different. The usual arthritic aches and pains were still there. However, within three days this realization hit me; I was no longer experiencing extreme shortness of breath nor experiencing any tingly numbness in my arms.
I could provide scary examples of experiences with extreme shortness of breath. But, I will just state that this condition had become very alarming. I could not climb a flight of just a few steps without being extremely out of breath. The condition had been progressively growing worse and worse.
The tingly numbness in my arms was an often occurrence. One example: every time when I would get up to use the bathroom at night, I would get the tingly numbness in my lower arms and hands. Often it scared me so much that I was afraid to go back to sleep in fear that I would not wake up again. I was afraid that I would die from having a heart attack during the night. So, I would sit up and stay awake until the numbness subsided.
Many times over the course of the year prior to this miraculous healing I said to myself, "I would have died from a heart attack by now if it wasn't for the fact that I am taking a blood thinner."
For a period of several weeks after this experience, each night as I prayed I would feel this little somewhat sharp pain in the middle of my chest. I know it was the presence of Holy Spirit I was experiencing. But, I cannot help but wonder if He was in the process of completing the job of restoring my heart.
When I had my check up later in October and the nurse took my blood pressure; it was 110/70. Over the next two years, I had my blood pressure checked at least five times, and each time it was in this 110/70 range. Before this miraculous healing, my blood pressure for a good number of years was always at least 140/90. I do not remember when or if my blood pressure was ever in the range of 110/70. Today, I remain free of extreme shortness of breath and tingly numbness in my arms.
As October progressed, the lingering sense of death lifted from me. It was replaced with a strong sense of life, life eternal. Today, I rarely think about dying. I focus my thoughts and attention on spending eternity with Jesus. Perhaps, I will die before the Second Coming of Jesus and the "Removal of The Church," but this doesn't seem to be of concern. Even thinking about going through the process of physical death doesn't have much affect because I know Jesus will be right there with me. Jesus has more than convinced me that eternity in the presence of God exists. Eternal life in the presence of God is available to all who truly believe in and follow our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
MRI Shows No Sign of Disorder
In February of 2000, I had a stroke. The cardiologist ran numerous tests to try to determine the cause of the stroke. The stroke was caused by a tear in the wall of a small artery in the back of my head. The tear blocked the passage of blood through that artery into my brain thus causing some of my brain cells to die. I was informed that I had suffered a previous stroke some time in the past, which apparently had not produced any symptoms. This stroke affected my vision. Today, I still have a circular spot in front of my eyes that makes me have to try to look around a small blurry area as I focus in on such things as reading a book.
According to the MRI that was done, the cardiologist determined that I had a condition he referred to as fibro muscular dysplasia. He said the arteries in the back of my head were very narrow and beady.
Because of the stroke and this disorder, a blood thinner was prescribed that supposedly I was to take for the rest of my life. For about 21 months I took a generic version of Coumadin. These blood thinners are actually rat poisons. As I stated, I believe taking this blood thinner kept me from having a heart attack.
In October of 2001, I visited my cardiologist and asked if he would consider doing another MRI on me. He agreed. The results of this MRI indicated no evidence of fibro muscular dysplasia.
No longer do I experience extreme shortness of breath or tingly numbness in my arms. No longer am I diagnosed as having fibro muscular dysplasia. No longer do I have to take rat poison to thin my blood.
It seems as if these words: "I have heard your prayer and seen your tears, I will heal you. I will add fifteen years to your life" apply directly to me. Jesus brought me back from the edge of physical death the night I experienced this healing miracle. There is no one on earth that can tell me something different.
God's great love, mercy and compassion were extended to Hezekiah in the times of the Old Testament. In present times, Jesus has clearly demonstrated to me and through me that He exists and is our Healer. These experiences serve as examples of His great love, mercy and compassion for His own.
Since November of 2001, I have had a strong sense that has become a very strong belief that divine healing and things related to divine healing are to play an important role in this ministry.
Through His suffering, crucifixion, death and resurrection, Jesus literally overcame the curse that fell upon mankind with the original sin of Adam and Eve. This includes sickness, disease and infirmities. Jesus is our Healer. God wants to make His children whole. Please take this truth into your heart.
With love through Christ,
Definitely sounds like a healing outreach is in the works for the ministry, what a blessing. He is and always will be Jehovah Rophe. When we think of all the diseases and sickness and illness and medical complications that are in the world, everyday that we are able to be free of such problems is a testimony of His provision for healing.
Praise God for His healing work in your life which is for a purpose. Another great testimony for what He has done among us. Thanks for sharing.
A lovely testimony of Gods favor upon your life that is good news that the Lord healed you.
He must have more plans for your life and your future to use you for his kingdom and sharing your testimony of how? he healed you. Which is a great testimony sister.
Your sister in Christ.
Thanks debradoo, ptl2008 and standingalone1229 for the comments made and encouragement given to this part 2 on healing miracles.
Yes, everything is for God's glory. We must not trust in ourselves, but always trust in God.
Part 3 subtitled A Heart's Look at the Finished Work of Jesus has now been posted.
Deanna, Somehow when I wrote the above response I missed your comment. My great desire is to be used by God for the Kingdom. Your comments uplifted me even more this morning. Thank you.
