Giant Asteroid Killed Off The Dinosaurs? - NO This is Not Truth

Last Friday, when a meteor exploded over Russia and another hugh asteroid flew by Earth within 17,000 miles, three times I heard news media make the statement, paraphrased: "65 million years ago, the dinosaurs were killed off by a giant asteroid colliding with Earth." I wanted to scream "No, No, No, quit repeating this lie over and over again. Dinosaurs were not killed off because of a giant asteroid hitting Earth."

The event that killed off most of the dinosaurs was the Worldwide Flood of Noah's time. This event, according to the genealogies found in God's Word, took place about 4,300 to 4,400 years ago.

Over and over again, time after time, people are being told and accept the idea that millions of years ago a giant asteroid brought about the extinction of the dinosaurs. This is a great big LIE that is being told and believed by both unbelievers and many Christians alike. It is very sad when Christians believe man's word as truth instead of or being ignorant of what God's Word reveals and teaches to us.

In God's account of Creation, given directly by God to and recorded by Moses, we are told that on Day 6 of the week of Creation both land animals and mankind were created. Following the genealogies recorded meticulously in Genesis 5 and 11 and in Matthew 1, it is widely believed and accepted that Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, were created about 6,000 years ago. Thus, according to God's Word, there is no way dinosaurs walked the earth 65 million years ago. In fact, God's Word teaches that the Earth is less than 10,000 years old. I accept what Answers in Genesis and other Creation Research organizations teach, and that is the Earth was created about 6,000 and less than 7,000 years ago.

I want to stress in this blog that belief in the extinction of dinosaurs happening 65 million years ago totally conflicts with the Biblical account of the Worldwide Flood of Noah's time. There is much physical evidence that the fossils of dinosaurs being uncovered are a result of the Worldwide Flood. There is also much evidence that there were dinosaurs on Earth after the flood. I invite you to read the blogs I have written about dinosaurs. See my series titled God is Literal: Creation Account Series and you might enjoy this series Noah's Ark & Worldwide Flood and these blogs in particular: Creation Series: What Really Happened to Dinosaurs

What has happened is those who teach the message that the dinosaurs were probably wiped out by an asteroid hitting the earth, must and do deny the flood of Noah's time as being a worldwide flood. If it is taught at all, it is taught that this was only a local flood. Totally contrary to account found in Genesis 6-8 of God's Word. Excerpts from God's account: (Does this describe just a local flood?)
Genesis 7 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.

17 Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. 18 The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. 20 The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. 21 And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit[a] of life, all that was on the dry land, died. 23 So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. 24 And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8 8 Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. 2 The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained. 3 And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased. 4 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat. 5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

13 And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry. 14 And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.

Calculating the amount of time Noah, his family and the animals were on the Ark, you come up with a figure of 371 days, a little over a year.

You cannot believe the made up story of man and accept God's Word as being the inerrant and infallible truth at the same time. What is so damaging is people are being bombarded with LIES about God's Creation. These lies make it harder and harder for God's truth to be told. If you cannot believe what is recorded in the first chapters of Genesis, how can you believe and receive the rest of God's Word as truth. How can you believe in what God's Word teaches about Jesus Christ? If Genesis cannot be true, then how can the rest of God's Word be true??

Honor God by giving Him full glory and full recognition for His version of Creation. Contribute by believing, thus, making it easier to share truth with others. Believe God's Word, not man's word!

Even Church kids are being confused by this lie. I remember one who had a light bulb moment when he realised that God created the dinosaur on the same day he created cows, sheep, pigs and horses.

We do agree concerning creation. In the sect I was raised in, they now say the scripture is without error, 'as orginally given', basically. It all concerns what words really mean. And are they literal or symbolic. In the creation account, there is no reason to believe they are anything other than literal, as care is given to qualify all the word meanings, such as day one, day two, on through six days. Then evening and morning are given to clarify what each day is.

It is reasoned that these words can not be literal in meaning, because the sun came on day four, and though not mentioned in the text, the earth was turning, and orbiting. How do we interpret and define the meanings of the words, basically. If we use the secular reasonings and theories then the words can not be literal. Basically we can place any kind of timeframe we want, and still say it is the word of God. And if one takes the words literal, then according to many we do not have proper discernment of Gods word. And round and round it goes.

God told Moses in 'six days', He created and made everything, in the earth and the heavens. God used the same words, 'six days', when He told Joshua and Israel to march around Jericho six days. Same exact language. It is man who says they mean different, it was not God. As given by God, they both are 'six days', and given exactly the same.

It all comes down to that issue. And a lot of mans knowledge, as they reason it, compared with what God said. Gods word will endure forever, and mans won't. Good to see you blogging again Dorothy. , God Bless. billy.

It IS a hard thing to comprehend that Earth is less than 10,000 years old, when the world and society tries to remove God as the Creator and disgard the simple account of Creation found in Genesis 1 and 2, telling the world that dinosaurs lived millions and millions of years ago and became extinct before man walked the earth. Scripture does tell us when the Earth was created. When you use Scripture as your guide for truth, everything makes so much more sense and our awesome God receives more of the glory He deserves and He can be seen to us and in us in an even more endearing way. Guess what, the physical evidence supports God's accounts of Creation and the Worldwide Flood. Those who discount God and try to prove something different such as a big bang, or the idea of a previous civilization, has to keep changing and changing their ideas and conclusions. And, the earth and universe seems to get older and older and older. God's Word does not change, and we should NOT change it to meet man's claims. God was there, He gave the record to Moses, it is the truth. Scripture evidence and physical evidence supports God's simple, literal, orderly account of Creation.

I am starting a new year in teaching Genesis 1-11 in Kids Church. One group is about 10-15 children (early service) and the other group is up to about 30 children (late service), ages 5-12. I am determined to turn the lessons I am writing into a curriculum, hopefully that our denomination will choose to use in at least some of our churches and beyond. I can envision my speaking and teaching in a number of our congregations and in different churches.

Thanks for your comments bethy, billyb and bibleguy64. Blessings. Dorothy :flower:

Good point..yes, we roll our eyes whenever we hear "millions of years ago"...when you were talking about the asteroid it made me think...even if just "common sense" came into play..I would think if an asteroid was so catastrophic to destroy an entire species of animals...it would be quite the mess right? If archaeologists can find entire dinosaur skeletons it would seem more likely that they "drowned" whole then being obliterated in an asteroid melt down. Also, if "asteroids killed the dinosaurs" ... is this selective destruction??? What about everything else?? I'm with you...thanks for sticking up for creation and Biblical time tables. :butterfly:
