Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
This is the Words from GOD. It must be truth. However, a lot of people find that the teaching of GOD is very difficult to comply. For instance, GOD tell us if we see a pretty girl and think about lewd thing, we are already committing adultery and should stop. Do not even look ata beautiful damsel and start thinking about the sensuous thing. What a harsh standard! What a demanding precepts! This is what ordinary people will think about.
However, let's discuss onestorythat happened whichshows GOD's wisdom, the infinite wisdom. HIS yoke is easy.
One day, King David woke up and got onto the roof of his palace. He saw Bathsheba taking her bath on the roof of another building. King David did not follow GOD's teaching and stopped his lustful thinking. His licentious covet drove him to take Bathsheba to the palace and hadfornication with Bathsheba when Bathsheba's husband was not at home. Bathsheba was as a result conceived with the son of King David. To avoid the salaciousand defamatory acts of King David be known to his people, this was because Bathsheba's husband had not been at home for a long time, it was impossible for Bathsheba to have baby without committing adultery. However, when Bathsheba's belly protruded in later stage of pregnancy, people would know. As a result, King David willfully sent Bathsheba's husband to the most dangerous place in the battle. Bathsheba's husband was killed in the war. King David then received Bathsheba into his palace and wed with Bathsheba openly.
King David, with a sight of a nake woman, not stopped there. His obscene meditation eventually drove him to adultery and murder.
King David eventually was looked down by his people and caused the dethrone of his kingship by his insurgentson. King David was forced into fugitive and exile for his life. Eventually, though he through his contrition to GOD for his vile deed, got back his throne. He made a war with his unfilial son and accidentally killed his son.
GOD said:Formy yoke is easyandmy burden is light.
Praise the Lord for HISinfinite wisdom. Laud the Lord for HISgoodness. Extol the Lord for HIS mercy. Exault the Lord for HIS holiness.
Thank you! One of my best-loved verses, and a story that makes me very thankful to God.
If it hadn't been for stories like King David's (or for us women, the Samaritan woman might be a good example) many people might not have been saved.
We might have thought we were too bad to be saved, if it were not for:
(a) the explicit statement that Jesus came not for the righteous but for sinners
(b) the examples throughout the Bible of very sinful people who were saved, made clean and made useful to God.
Praise the Lord!
My prayer is that our churches will be truly open to welcome sinners and not just the outwardly righteous, because as we all know, we are all just sinners by nature, only God can make us clean.
God bless you and your family Raymond!
