Remembering when my theology was simple this Easter.

Preparing for Easter I found myself remembering my simple understanding of faith in Christ as a young man.

This came about because I was pondering Jesus as human and the act of God raising Jesus from the grave. You see I had nothing, owned nothing, when the Holy Spirit introduced me to God and Christ his Son. So I thought a lot about Jesus as a man, how he learned his lessons, to be in society, preparing to face the challenges of doing the will of his Father.

Jesus faced all life's difficulties as a human - flesh and blood - and if no where else more human than any other the point of being taken from the garden to the cross grave. The forces that had been held at bay for all his years by the Father had been let lose and satan was approaching him to give a kiss in betrayal. From now on Jesus was 100% dependent upon the promises of his Father and guidance of the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit).

Remind you of anyone? Yes, the same as we are asked to stand, on the Fathers promises with the strength of His Spirit. Ah, we have a bit more than Jesus did. Because Jesus led the way and we know the Son did the will of the Father and overcame because the Father acted (and kept) His promises.

Jesus is risen by God from Sheol to glory because he glorified God in life and death. He has promised us the same if we hold to the faith and endure. We can do it together. We have an example.

He is risen indeed!

Thanks This blog has recalled my theological training years ago. Yes the God/Man person Jesus has baffled many and still does, myself included. It is one of those mysteries that I accept by faith.

Amen. Amen. Amen.

He is risen indeed! And I am glad, oh so glad beyond words that Jesus is victor!
