Sometimes the Devil can flip us from two extremes- Disdain and Self Praise. First we experience the disdain from the world and even the world around us. All manner of trial persue us and threaten to stumble us and sometime we do stumble and give up on God and start to wonder if God really loves us by the things that happen to us. I had that experience. I began to burn out with stress and extreme loneliness and desolation. Then I knew the Devil was on my trail. Even then when I knew that intellectually, I could not reach communion with God. God was distant for me. I was cornered. I couldn't fast. I was too involved in the treats and indulgences of this life. Then the Devil turn around a does a different number on you. I begin to self praise myself from a self worship. And I think this a worst stumble then before. The temptation to think how clever and intelligent or even wise we are come on the scene. After these two extremes I just plain collapsed. I could continue to be functional at all. Yep! We were at wits end. It seem we visit this corner more frequently. Let look into our bible at Ephesians 2:1-10 and read, ["...1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them...] Yes, we forget that "...And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus..." I wasn't raised alone to think that I'm something, but together with all the brethen like you and me, and he made us sit together to eat of his banquet together, to heaven itself, where Jesus is. And it is Real and it is Royal. The relationship and fellowship is for us together to enjoy. May you cherish this thought and meditate on the wonderful communion we have with each other and with Christ. Amen. thbg
We must understand that we are part of a real and royal kingdom. We mustn't understimate the love and care God has for us and how will defend us, the cause and the truth. But in dealing with each other, we must uplift and look out for each other and really build up our fellow prince and princess up. And those who come new, put the best robe and a ring and kill the fattest calf for them. But that is what it delights God to us love each other and to welcome the weary and down-trodded and releave the ill-treated.
Like we quoted, "...And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus..."
May you really look intently as what this says and really savor whats coming up in heaven as things as wind down or if God happens to call us home. May you be blessed. Amen.
