Sometimes we get a beautiful day, like this day or any other day and Satan and the cares and worries of this life want to ruin it for you or me. Such was my experiece today. A beautiful new spring time day and suddenly the worries and fears and apprehension start very early to put ideals of doom and gloom in my head. I got on my knees and began to pray to God to send Michael and Gabriel to expulse Satan from my house and heart and head. The fact of the matter I told God, I really feel like prasing your name today and I knew that was an advantage. Worrying and fretting is a form of idol worship, where we don't focus on God but on our problems. In the Parable of the Sower, the word explains that the seed that fell among the thorn and weed are those who recieve the word but the cares and worries of this life make the little plant unfruitful. I was reading a blog from a gentlemen who put it quite interestenly that those who rob at the temple rob the holy spirit of the space in our life. And I thought that was a fair and interesting observation. I thought of the Parable of the sower and the weeds and thorns rob the little plants, us of the moisture to keep and be vibrant producers of fruit of peace and rejoicing and praise to God. We turn to Isaiah 53:1 where it says, ["...1 Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not...] Isaiah prophesies that the Lord too grew up like a young plant and like a root out of the ground...he was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief... Yes even our Lord has his share of battle with this sindrome to stay focus on God and that's why he can understand when we are tempted to fall away. And it is no mystery why he gave the Parable of the sower to illustrate this point. Sometimes the havoc and the trouble can be overwhelming and that's the right time to bring the concern and put it on the feet of Jesus to deal with. So don't let Satan get ahead of us on this business of staying focused on God, stay tuned on God and not on our problems. May you be blessed. Amen. thbg
Great blog. We all at times try to control what happens in our lives, but seldom view it as idolotry. It's a very useful perspective.
Instead of allowing Satan to ruin a good day, we Christians have the opportunity to "let Jesus save a bad day." I address this in a blog: [blog=aliveintheword/jesus-just-how-broad-are-your-shoulders/]Jesus, just how broad are your shoulders?[/blog] Very broad indeed!
Alive in the Word
Thank you 'aliveintheword' for you kind commen, amen and reference to your blog on the subject. I just had a run on with a well meaning brother who did not believe Satan has authority to ruin you day. And that is just our reward for focusing on anything or anyone but Christ. It is more easily said than done. I sip my 'tasters choice' coffee here, carefree but come monday morning when satan is my trail. And I haven't prayed and set Jesus ahead for the day, I'm in for a very long day. And it happens often inspite of my 'wisdom'.
But I learn it everytime afresh that after I confessed my sins to God and turn the day over to him somewhere in the afternoon, I see the glory of God again and again see how really narrow minded I was to focus on my problem and not on the solution- the person- Diety of Jesus. But it happens again and again until we get it straight. Thank you for everything and the reference to you blog. I hope and pray the exploration of this subject helps many. May you be blessed. Amen.
Thank you THBG! Stress really gets me down a lot. But I need to remember that anything that keeps me from God is not FROM God, but from Satan. Thank you for blessing me with this blog!
