Good morning sunshine...! Is that the lyric of a song? Where did I get that from? Good morning sunshine...mmm...I'm still battling with a nagging cold that just won't shake off. So how are you this morning? It's 5:57 AM in my side of town. We want to open a scripture to read. We turn to Hebrews 12:4-12, it says, ["...4In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. 6For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives." 7It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. 12Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,...] Sometimes its' not pleasant when the Lord bring us trials to dicipline us. Why I might say, " I don't need dicipline..." "Dicipline? Me?" Sometime thing happen to us that bring us down from our puffy puffed upness and help us walk on the ground again. But we must accept the correction with cheer if we can muster up that. Tell yourself a favorite joke or account when we are feeling down or tense. It occurred to me this morning that I was being tense and rigid. And that froze me up and made me unfruitful. I think cheerfulness goes next door to being charitable. A cheerful giver- him the Lord loves. And it is not easy being loose and open and you know on the level. Perhaps sometimes it's best to put away the same strick tone of voice or demanding lingo. But in all we learn to be cheerful and I think that's what the Lord want us to be cheerful this morning. He said to his dicipiles, "Be of good cheer, for I have overcomed the world..." What a comforting statement to reflect today. The Lord want to dicipline you to make you cheerful. Imagine that and smile. May you be blessed. Amen. thbg
For this blog I had to take a long hard look at it. Then I turned to James 1:1-6, where it says,
["... 2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways...]
So in the end we should pray that we should derive joy and cheer of what ever happens to us and remember what the Lord told Joshua, " I will never leave you nor forsake you.." and that should lift our spirit up when things do not go right. May you be blessed. Amen.
Thank you 'melvos' for your kind comment and amen. Thank your for scripture reference. I wasn't aware of that verse. I'm very happy that I'm recovering from a hideous flu. I coundn't shake it off no matter what I did. But the Lord taught me my lesson. But now we rejoice we can return to his word. Thankx again and I hope you are blessed together with your loved ones where ever they may be. Amen.
