More than conquerors?...Is that true about me...?

I was watching a final clip of a movie on television where Sir Lancelot take his challenge to kill the 'griffin' a bird beast monster who has been able to terrify Prince Arthur and the whole Medival community. Theres this would be 'Merlin' who is instrumental in the conquest of the 'griffin' beast. But I wonder of me and us, do we need to be on a spell to defeat the 'giants' who appear to terrify our neighborhood? Is there a sort of incantation we have to recite to defeat the power of the enemy? Is there really a mistery to where the power and weapons are to arrest the Devil and his demons? This is quite a topic for an after 4th of July weekend. In the celebration we talk and sing about the victory. But we must ask the question- Have we been victorious lately? Have me defeated the ipod? The dvd player? the stereo? Or what ever is keeping you from that bible study? Is the 'griffin' lurking in your home? We earnestly need to pray to defeat the enemy. We don't go against an enemy that is know to play dead. The attack is fomidable on the truth and our devotion. But after the hoop-la of civic celebrations do we have the upper hand in dealing with a dull understanding of the bible? Rom 8:28-30 says, ["...28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified...] Have we forgotten that is is God who has called us and works on us to his own good pleasure. I certain tend to forget this and start the battle on my own and I am in for a certain defeat. Let's continue with Rom 8:37-39, it adds, ["...37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord...] Now we know what the bible says, but have we believed it? The Devil is able to put wool quilt over our head to hide of form the glory of God and and his love for us. But we mustn't let the cares, fears and anxiety of life take over us that we become unfruitful in joy and spiritual productivity. No. Nothing will separate us from the love that is in Jesus, but we should open our eyes to see his glory over us to that we should not be weary in well doing- together with our devotion to read and study his word. May you be blessed. Amen. thbg
