I was waiting for this Sunday Sabbath Sermon Message to come to me. And I was getting anxious because I had nothing to say and share. But I was looking at the Chip! In! Bar and wondered about it? Will it come in increments of hundreds, fifty, twenty-fives, tens, five, ones or zeros. And I thought about this message. And the last thing I wanted is to created one more 'give up the money' guilt trip! But I woindered of how much do we love the Lord? or really how much love do we have any kind?... We turn to John 21:15-19, ["...15So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 16He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 17He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 18Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. 19This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me..."] Are we just Christians by name and nothing else? And God foreknew this sluggishness way, way long ago. We turn to bible, ["... 1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually..."] And the daughters of men do not care for the things of God and carry this sluggishness of heart we speak about. And then the "Sons of God" or rather a play on words, "Those who call themselves by God's name..." and that would include us. Who join themselves, ourselves with the spirits of the world and forget all about God and take on the wickedness of the world. And it starts with a quiet apathy and a quiet neglect. a little slumber to think about God... And like the Lord told or asked Peter, How much he loved him? And us apostles and Peters of today, How much do we love the Lord? And better ask, How much love do we have at all? For anything or anybosy? And like thes apostles and men of renown of old, we want to have the great things in the world and the great names of acclamation but in charity I don't know where we stand? Have we accomplised anything there? The love of Christ, where is is this holiday Season?... And these daughter born to men are fair like the chimelites of the world that tempt us and take us in and we go for them. The ideas, the blindness to what time it is in the clock of the gospel. We take on hte cares and worries of the world and we are liable to pay the consequences for those thoughts and communion with the spirits of the word which are so comely to percieve, yes dangerously seductive, very fain to enjoin! May God deliver us from such...! May you have a good one! Amen. thbg
And we turn to Genesis 11:1-4,
["... 1And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth..."]
And we like the Ninevites begin to reason about this time, what have I built for myself? And what have I accomplished in my life? And why should I serve other or others when I haven't anything to show for, for myself? And about New Year's we make a resolution to build a tower, of the self! And we want to make a name for ourselves, our own thing if you will! And many who think and like the same, say, let join together and build on this idea of the self!...
More blessed to give than to receive? Forget it! I'm going to take care of Number One, me and take care of me and my and our! And this Season instead of being a Season of charity and cheer become a season of selfishness and sorrow and we just don't see God and or his picture and or his message, to give and be cheerful in doing so! So beware of the sorrow of the Holidays, it is a bug that is out to get you! And it begins when we think or say, "What about me...?"...
May you be blessed. Amen.
I was listening to some radio evangelist on the radio and there are some on television. We might agree on human relations with each other, and bodily purity, and chastity and moral issues and ethical behavior, and an apparent 'clean' life. But we come short on the glory to Diety of Jesus and Nature of God, and foreknowing of our salvation since before creation. And we
avoid all the abvious moral sins but come short on giving God Jesus all the praise and all the glory, then we wonder if we really understand who what God is and how much dominion he really has?! And the bible is not ignorant of this white-washing of the gospel. We turn to 1Samuel 2:29-30,
["... 29Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
30Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed..."]
And these 'moral' businessmen cause men to make light of the glory and offering of God, Jesus, that he wasn't fully God with all dominion and power of God over all affairs in heaven and or earth. And that we have free moral agency over the result of our own fate without God's 3 cents on our business, like if man and the earth belonged to man and not to God! And here's the distinction when we sin against each other and when we sin against the nature of God and his Diety, verse 2:25,
["... 25If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them..."]
And it is a serious sin to curtail the dominion God has over his creation and how he has foreknown everything, the salvation of those he chose to save by himself and created everything. This is serious sins against God. And we have commentalists talking about being clean drunks, but the bible clearly denotes these 'giants' that have come on the world and how they set
themselves agains the truth and against God and how they with their sorcery want humanity to join their ramage and are men of renown names and call themselves even by God's own name to further their purpose and have many followers...
Many blessing. Take care. Thank you for joining us for this Sunday Sabbath Message...
In this holiday Season, what do we think about grateful gifts? We turn to a place in the bible about a woman, who had a bad reputation but she did not have a reputation of being ungrateful for all God Jesus had done for her. We turn to Luke 7:36-50,
["... 36And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.
37And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace..."]
And this Holiday Season which are we? Those who owed Jesus little or those who will Jesus much? If only we could be as grateful as this woman who happened to be of a bad reputation, but not for being stingy...!
May you be blessed. Amen.
And kind of a last note on something, like what some consider holiness,
["...28Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.
29Pilate then went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?
30They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.
31Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
32That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die..."]
"And we don't want to come unto the hall judgement because we don't want to become unclean, but we just don't know how to kill this man and we like you, if you please, you being so unclean do if for us, we would be so grateful to you and Ceasar, but this way we can can have the Passover ceremony..."
And we just let this thought carry in our hearts and minds...
May you be blessed. Amen.
And in the back-drop of this Holiday Season is the onset of the Easter Season which is the crux of all matters, the crucifictioin of our Lord for us. And before we completely forget what our Lord has done for us and fall asleep with current events and festivities. The loom of death of the fate of some still needs to be remedied. And in the Carols of the Holiday, buy a wooden cross and hang it on the wall of your house and remember what the game is all about, redemption from death and some are still on their way to it...
What ever you do, do not forget what time it is, just about the times of return of Christ! Do not fall asleep! Think Jesus! Think Cross! And keep tabs on the time!...
May you be delivered. Amen.
