We turn to Luke 22:24-34, ["... 24 Then a dispute also arose among them about who should be considered the greatest. 25 But He said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles dominate them, and those who have authority over them are called 'Benefactors.' 26 But it must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and whoever leads, like the one serving. 27 For who is greater, the one at the table or the one serving? Isn't it the one at the table? But I am among you as the One who serves. 28 You are the ones who stood by Me in My trials. 29 I bestow on you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one on Me, 30 so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom. And you will sit on thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel. Peter's Denial Predicted 31 "Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." 33 "Lord," he told Him, "I'm ready to go with You both to prison and to death!" 34 "I tell you, Peter," He said, "the rooster will not crow today until you deny three times that you know Me!"..."] And we pick this them because, we ask whom of us should be the greatest? And sometimes we ask, whom should, or which should be the greatest denomination? Or which church far exceed in holiness all the rest? And we as Protestant even boast of our knowledge or insight or calling or inside information of things of God! And we really think we really have something in this pride we've picked from somewhere...! And certainly we would say we are not like those there idol worshippers or what have you! And it's right to stand up for the truth! But also in our calling of the truth, the truth also tells us that we were not choosen because we were more pretty, or that had the nicest houses or neighborhoods! The word of God says that were were chosen because we were the most wicked and devased thinking individuals... No. The church is not a social club of socially acceptable people, but a group that God though in himself would need the Cross the most. And we've taken this mantle from somewhere that we are the most obedient group. Not true. And we should fear! We turn to Romans 11:16-24, ["...16 Now if the firstfruits offered up are holy, (A) so is the whole batch. And if the root is holy, so are the branches. 17 Now if some of the branches were broken off, (B) and you, though a wild olive branch, were grafted in among them, (C) and have come to share in the rich root [a] of the cultivated olive tree, 18 do not brag that you are better than those branches. But if you do brag-you do not sustain the root, but the root sustains you. (D) 19 Then you will say, (E) "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in." 20 True enough; they were broken off by unbelief, but you stand by faith. (F) Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. (G) 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you either. 22 Therefore, consider God's kindness and severity: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness (H) toward you-if you remain in His kindness. (I) Otherwise you too will be cut off. (J) 23 And even they, if they do not remain in unbelief, (K) will be grafted in, because God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off from your native wild olive, and against nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these-the natural branches-be grafted into their own olive tree?..."] This passage tell us supposedly converted individual, to not haunt anything in the calling God has given us as a privilege of mercy to those who mercy most needed. And it tells us that we should alway have salt in ourselves and be thankful and not boast of any inherent goodness of holiness, because who were chosen because other were blinded. And it tells not to brad of how we know it all and how we really worship God, supposedly!... And finally we should not boast of any super natural conversion to follow Jesus anywhere he goes, like Peter did and you know what happened to super apostle Peter? And we not better than Peter, but should always pray God gives us trials we can take and not be toppled! No. But if I don't understand this, God will work on my pride until there's nothing left of me but a kind "I sorry...I came short of your glory...dear God and am not better than anybody else that has ever stumbled..."! May you be blessed. Amen thbg
I woke this morning feeling I couldn't see the picture of this all. And I prayed to my God to grant me deliverance from this misty fog that had taken over this mind this morning. And I came to think of something. The Parable of the Ten Minas, where the Lord exhort us to be ever diligent with our gifts. And turning to 1Corithians 13, the love chapter, I took a look as that thought about that for my self. Had I done things with love and charity...?
And coming to think what this all means, we simply want to love at all times with what ever is left of our gift and or gifts and resources, spiritual or not. Paul says that love is never proud! And we know we respect God's word and the truth, but where is my human understanding of the shortcomings of others? Is there any gain in parading this aura of intellectual storehouse of insight?...
And the message is to love at times, even if what is left of us is little...
May you be blessed. Amen.
And it is sad because those that just don't see the picture, they don't see the picture. And certainly God has not given them, me, eyes to see or ears to hear or a heart to percieve! Isaiah 6:9. In the end of the day, there's nothing anyone can do but pray we understand God's message. And sometimes I don't see the picture and the message. But when I ask God to show me mercy, he often listens to my prayer for mercy and I see the meaning...
But we can yell, explain, exhort, guide or point out, until we are blue in the face, but it is fruitless, without God mercy and compassion. I sometimes forget that fretting does me not an iota of good. And I just have to be content that I undertand the message and if someone did not care for God today, we pray they, I will do tommorrow, but soon, before it is all over, and too late...!
May you be blessed. Amen.
