The 4:00 AM Devotional...

added: 03/29/09 4:40am edit this journal I have my alarm clock to wake me up at 4:OO AM, to ask me each wake of day if I need to wake up and get up early to speak to the Lord. And usually I get up and log in to see if there's any messages from my freinds from late last night. And I discovered that some also get up pretty or very that is, very early in the morning to do their devotional. And I that is wonderful. So take on to sippin' my tile tea, not an original idea, and we turn to something sad, Exodus 32:1-4, where is says, ["...When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us godsa who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him." 2 Aaron answered them, "Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me." 3 So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. 4 He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, "These are your gods,b O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt." 5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, "Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord." 6 So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings.c Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry...] Now this is not what we had in mind of something inspiring this early in the morning. But who knows, just before the day starts, if we don't devoted the day early onto to the Lord, we may end up making a moltend calf and worshiping it all day long today. If we are going to whine and complain, lust after things, be unfaithful, tell a few white lies, be a bad employee, husband, wife or child, we all ready to dance around the molten calf. We might say, what terrible people the Israelites were, so ungrateful. After all the deliverances and miracles and provision and still doubt and do this? But let's examine ourselves what kind of life do we lead after we've come to the knowledge of the truth and come to know Jesus? Is he truly the Lord of our home and life and workplace? But it's still early. We can still commit our way and day to God and let him lead the way. Now that's better isn't it? I just keep on sippin' my tea. May you be blessed. Amen. thbg
