One of my previous blogs I had mentioned that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit I crossed over my Jordan into the promised land. I know that I have crossed over, for the voice of the Lord has said so, and in doing so I have come up higher with a new assignment and alignment. This is gratifying and satisfying, for I had been encouraged to press into a better place by the Holy Spirit.
Hence, I wish to encourage those who are still pressing in and sensing that they are still in the same place. Keep pressing, do not be one of those who through unbelief fall back. Remember that God is a Good God all the time, and it is his goal to see you come into promotion.
Standing on the other side of the Jordan I have been surprized to experience, along with elation, a spiritual heaviness that has robbed me of my joy. This has been a weird experience.
But here is the thing; the enemy has come into my atmosphere with little niggles, little feet tripping experiences that have kept my focus on these little foxes that spoil the vine. Satan has robbed me of my joy that should have carried and buoyed me over these last few days. Satan knows that if I loose my joy my strength has gone. If my strength has been taken from me against my will, I am vulnerable to attack.
But thanks be to God, my buckler and shield, for I was able to overcome and take these debilitating thoughts captive, bringing them into obedience in Christ. When I had cleared away the dross and picked up the spoils of my victory, I heard the Holy Spirit say, ‘Warfare is at hand therefore gird up your loins and be sober.’ 1 Peter 1:13
Gird up your Loins. This is a phrase which can be confusing. But think of the meaning as this. In those days outer garments were as a long robe Being a long robe this would hinder quick movement on part of the wearer. Therefore, they would tuck the long robe into their girdle and wrap the loose ends between their legs much like a nappy/diaper. In this way the wearer was ready for action. God was saying to me; wrap up the loose ends of your character into my belt of truth. Tie up your emotions so that they will not flap and hinder you in your upcoming warfare. Be ready for you do not know where the saboteurs will strike. Bebrews12:1.
Be Sober. This is a little easier to grasp, but do we really understand and practice sobriety of the mind? Be disciplined. Be in control of your habits. Have you emotions under the peace of God. Do not be blown about by every wind. Be temperate in your lifestyle. To behave in an orderly manner, to be sober, serious, sane, sound-minded, discreet, self-disciplined, prudent, and moderate. Self-mastery. Ephesians 5:18
This is the strategy for preparation of the warfare that we will face as we come into the promised land. Am I up to it? Praise God Yes Yes. Lets join together and smash the enemy.
I love it too. Something that came to mind as I was reading this was that we tend to forget the battle is not over when we enter the Promise Land. Our time of wandering has ceased but there are battles to fight and enemies to destroy. If we allow them to settle down comfortably next to us, they will draw us away from God. We are in a battle and we must never forget it!
