jonah as a sign of the last days

I believe that the Lord is speaking powerfully across all nations, races and groups as never before.  I sense in my spirit that there is increased activity in the heavens that will ultimately fall onto the earth.  I also sense that the enemy is increasing his anger, hatred and violence, more so among the younger generation.  There is coming a clash of the swords that will impact across the nations leaving no person untouched.

We can see this upheaval in activity and changes in all levels of our society including, the USA, Briton, Europe, China to name a few nations.  As we listen or view the news we can see earthquake cracks appearing in the politics of a number of nations that has many financial experts on tender hooks.

It is into this heavenly activity orchestrated by the Lord of Hosts that my attention was turned to Jonah.  We know the story - Jonah the prophet was called by the Lord to preach to the city of Nineveh.  But he refused for as he was quoted as saying in chapter 4

Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home?  That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish.  I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity

God was about to do a mighty work in the city of Nineveh and he called upon Jonah to be his instrument of change.  Jonah had God all figured out that he could not believe the request made of him for he reckoned that the wickedness of the city would be over looked by Yahweh.  Jonah was proved correct of course, therefore he felt justified in the action that he took by running away from the calling.

In running from the assignment Jonah planned to escape to the furthest point in the opposite direction to Nineveh.  In planning to do so I believe that he reckoned that this would end his calling as a prophet and his calling to do God’s will.  But the calling of God will not leave those that he has ordained, hence God ran after him, causing a great wind to storm up over the Mediterranean.  As the result the ship Jonah was escaping on was on the verge of sinking.

We know the outcome – Jonah is thrown overboard and in doing so the sea straight-way became calm. But God was still on his case as he caused a great fish to rescue him from drowning.  In suggesting to be thrown overboard Jonah expected to die.

As then, today God is calling his anointed people out to be at the vanguard of his revivals that he his planning across the nation.  Already the hurricane winds are blowing up an evangelical storm.

Pray that God’ appointed ‘spokes persons’ will not do a Jonah.  Pray that the ‘Jonah like ones’ will be obedient to their calling in the midst of the rearranging of the cities that God is causing to be re aligned.  Pray that they will not fall prey to thinking that they know best as to their theology.  Pray that they may have swift feet and willing hearts to obey.  Pray that they will be willing to up root themselves and travel if need be.

Pray that the chosen ‘Nineveh’s’ will be receptive to the winds of redemption that will blow across and down their streets.  Pray that the angelic activity over each city will not be hindered by the prince of that  city and the cities portals will open to the grace of God.

The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”  Matthew 9:37-38

The Lord is calling is beloved family of sons and daughters to pray the harvest in.  The greatest harvest and out pouting of the Lords spirit never seen before is poised on our lips.  May Gods move of the spirit not stop because his people did not bow themselves down and pray for the harvest to come in over their city.

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority,          3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth  1 Timothy 2
