Kings and Priests

You have made them (Believers) to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”  Rev 5:10

I am only beginning to slowly and tentively grasp the implications of this verse.  We have been given a mandate from our Father the moment we where born again.  We have been appointed and commissioned as ambassadors of the King of heaven.    As representatives we have been appointed as Kings and Priests of our kingdom.

As I am beginning to understand the kingdom that has been allocated to us, is the place where we live and work.  This geographical area is the kingdom that we have been given and by royal decree from heaven, we are the King and Priest of our land.  Our job description is to create a kingdom of righteousness within our neighbourhood and work place.  As priests we are to act as Gods envoys between our population within our kingdom and God our Father as owner.

The purpose of this is to train us in these two disciplines, so that in the coming days we will be able, with Jesus to rule over the nations.

We are to bring and establish Gods rule within the conquered lands and to maintain the Kings presence and uphold his will for our kingdom.  This involves us in witnessing and being a light to our ‘subjects’ along with upholding them in prayer before the Fathers throne.

I have found myself, not regularly I admit, of walking around my work area of 20 work stations, proclaiming and declaring the area as holy to the Lord.  I also establish in the spirit a wall of angels around the boundaries.  When I remember I pray for each of my team by name and ask Gods blessing to be upon them.

At times I have found myself praying that the gates of my city be closed so that the prince of the air cannot come in.  At times this can be exhausting as the enemy will attack and I find myself in a spiritual battle.  Lately I have been led to pray that righteousness will spring up in the streets and justice to flow like a river across the land.

and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.  Revelation 1:6

I pray that I may be found worthy on that day of being an ambassador as a faithful servant.

One of the "benefits" of my husband's job is that he comes into contact with a lot of employees. In conversations with him, they have learned that he was working toward his MDiv/is now a member of the clergy. The result was, people just "happen" to drop by to say "hi". He has been faithful in that and do you know what recently happened? God just enlarged his territory. That, I think, is another blog.
