I wonder if many of us give a thought to what our role will be with Christ after we pass into his glory. We have been redeemed for two major reasons. Firstly, to be a witness unto Jesus, and in so doing make many disciples. Secondly we have been promised that we will reign as Kings with him in glory. This is indicated in 1 Corinthians 6:2 NIV.
Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?
But before we come all excited there is a big BUT that hangs over this concept of reigning with Christ in his glory. Very simply, being redeemed is not enough to give us the right to sit on the throne with Christ as the book of Revelation makes plain time and time again. If one was to read through John's writings that have come down to us as the last book in the Bible we would notice the use of the Greek verb:- nikaō.
Translated into English as - to conquer. Most English versions use the word 'Overcome' or 'Victorious' to convey this concept. We see this most plainly in Revelation 3:21. NIV
Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
This verse very plainly says that those who have been redeemed out of darkness, sanctified, delivered and set free must have proven themselves to be worthy of wearing the crown. We who have been born again must have emulated Christ's life in being conquerors.
For this awesome responsibility of reigning with Christ we are required to make diligent preparation. As I read in 1 Corinthians 3:13-14 I believe there will be a sifting at the gates of heaven; the over comers to the right hand side, while the redeemed to the left.
How can we prepare ourselves for the awesome responsibility? 1 John 5:4 NIV
for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith
At our re birth we have been given the tools to live a life of victory; but have we made use of them?
Firstly we must purify ourselves as Christ is pure and holy by yielding our bodies as instruments of righteousness. Secondly by become lovers of the truth. This is how we can prepare ourselves to be over comers.
Now that you have purifiedyourselves by obeyingthe truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. 1 Peter 1:22 NIV
In these last days there will be many believers who will defile themselves with the impurities of the world. There will also be other believers who will not become lovers of the truth but will be deceived with lying signs and wonders. For this reason God will send a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and not endure to the end.
Holiness and obedience are the qualities that we enable us to be more than conquerors here on earth so that in proving our faith we will be on the upward path to claiming our prize on graduation day. There awaits a crown for each of us.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:8 NIV
If you are serious in your desire to share Christ's kingdom with Him, let me suggest that you read carefully several times the Scriptures I have quoted above, and consider how each one applies to your own life.
Let us not throw aside the great privilege of sitting with Christ on the thrones of heaven.

Your blog sent my mind to the verse in Revelation . They overcame Him through the blood of the Lamb, the word of their testimony and they did not love their life unto death. I think in doing this requires great faith in the One Who gave His all for us.
