Rolling Revealing Revelation

We are hearing much about the seven mountains of God at present with its call to disciple the nations as the church’s primary and main calling.  Too many this is a new revelation but in this word I wish to show that the mountains of God have always been in Gods plan of salvation that he has called his chosen to undertake.

To achieve this under the Holy Spirits guidance I plan to give a quick brief overview of Gods salvation plan including a glimpse into ‘church history’ gleaned from my remembrance of college lectures with some assistance from Google.

Gods plan of salvation as I see it begins in Genesis 1:28.

28God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Fill the earth – the Hebrew can be translated as; Consecrate the earth.  Subdue it – can be understood in Hebrew as; bring into subjection.  Rule over – can be translated from the Hebrew as; Reign or Take over.

I believe here we see that Gods strategy was for Adam & Eve to go into the world and take the Land in the name of the Lord establishing the Lords authority and control over the earth;  That is controlling the mountains of society.

Due to the fall when Adam & Eve reasoned that they could do this task in their own way this scheme of God was postponed.

The calling of the nation Israel under the leadership of the Israel God – Yahweh, was to be the catalyst for the other nations to learn and see from Israel that this was the way forward to restore Gods glory on the earth.  It is interesting to note that God was still working on the nations level to bring his presence to all the earth.  But with the Children of Israel taking a step forward and two steps backward so may times, God lost patience with them.  The birth of Christ is the next rolling revealed revelation in God’s plan to control the mountains of society.

Due to the bickering of the first century church over doctrine and the influence of the Roman nation onto the church, Gods scheme went into a period of darkness.  Gods plan to subdue the nations and the mountains once again founded.

Darkness ruled the church until Luther nailed his theses and the reformation was born.  Here was a glimmer of light into the darkness which spread quickly throughout the nations by Zwingli, Calvin, my named sake, among many others.

Because in my opinion this reformation only stressed the work of Christ, to the exclusion of the Holy Spirit, splinters over Biblical interpretation become widespread ushering in the denominations that we are all conversant with.  This stalled and delayed Gods plan.

But God continued to revel his revelation through the ‘Holiness Movement’ which gave rise to the Pentecostal beginnings at the turn of the 2oth C.  The emphasis and work of the Holy Spirit was slowly being restored.  Names like Azusa Street, Topeka and preachers like Agnes Ozman carried this movement forward; but with so much stress on glossolalia, the movement was confined to small groups and did not penetrate the main stream churches.

It was not until the 50’s and 60’s that the ‘charismatic movement’ as it was now called, begin to infiltrate the denominations.  Dennis Bennett was one the early leaders in this.  God was revealing to those who were willing to seek his face, the need to restore the Holy Spirit with His power, gifts and 5 fold ministry into the church.

This leads us up till now where the rolling revealing revelation from God is preparing us to retake the nations and to disciple the nations as our main calling in these last days.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…     This is the first function of the so called great commission text in Matthew.

This leads into the revelation that the Holy Spirit is presently revealing us into; the ‘7 Mountains’ calling.

It is no longer Gods calling, in todays seasons to continue to build churches with its emphasis and stress solely on evangelism and church growth.  These seasons are past and the call is to look up and see the nations and begin to retake the mountains destroying the gate keepers in today’s society.  Our work is to pray and subdue retake the mountains of Education, Religion, Family, Business, Government, Arts/Entertainment & Media

I believe there is an 8th mountain that stands tall and separate from the seven, but this is another teaching.

In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.

Isaiah 2:2.

Praise be to God of all the earth, who has said that the gates of Hell will not prevail against his church.  There is more revelation to be revealed from God’s throne as we press into him prophesizing and declaring his glory upon the earth.

I pray that this word will be a blessing to the  many who seek Gods face with cleans hands and a pure heart.

The denomination I was raised in started out in 1886 as a Holiness congregation in the mountains of the southeastern US but quickly began to spread into other communities. By 1908, less than two years after the Azusa Street Revival, these little churches, scattered through the mountains, had become Pentecostal making it the oldest Pentecostal denomination in the US with several splinter groups.

Therefore, I know, from personal knowledge, that what you say happened to those groups is true and their growth in many respects was hindered. In some cases they focused far more outward "evidence" (works in addition to speaking in tongues) rather than true discipleship and became spiritually arrogant and legalistic.

My senior pastor uses the term "Glocal" meaning that the local church must not be exclusively local-minded or global-minded. We must recognize that the purpose of the local church is not merely to evangelize but to teach and equip so that we in turn may go forth into the world and do the same.
