Will we survive these Last Days?

As we approach the last days, will we endure the upheaval that is coming upon the world? Will we cope with the change and the tribulation that the world has never seen before? Will we come through better than when we entered the troubles, or will we be devoured by the pressures building within and without?

For the Last days says the Lord will be a shaking and sifting of all people on the earth, great world leaders will be brought down, while well known church leaders will be exposed. Who can stand in these times? Everything that we hold dear now will be taken from us and the foundations that we have built our lives on will be shaken and in cases will fall. Can we picture the panic and chaos? No we cannot for those days will be like nothing that we have ever experienced.

The Lord has directed me to Deuteronomy chapter two where the Children of Israel are almost at their long 40 years journey and in many ways their experience mirrors our situation today. They were about to enter into the Promised Land and the pathway before them was a difficult one as they were facing situations unknown to them. Hence we can draw some parallels from their journey that I believe will assist us in preparing ourselves for the last days and all its confusing and terrifying times ahead.

Firstly God only directed them . God’s instructions were clear – “Go here and do this.” “Walk this way and leave these people alone.” Leviticus chapter 25 Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land . I believe as we enter the Last days Gods instructions to each of us will be very clear and concise. I also believe that each person may well have a different set of commands from God to someone else. I also believe that each person will need to hear God speaking to them directly, rather than through a second channel; like a minister or a book. This is because with such confusion the lines of communication need to be crystal clear and not distorted.

Therefore it is imperative that today we have established a line of communication with God – that is we can discern his voice speaking to us amid all the other voices that clamour for our attention.

Secondly they had to destroy their enemies. As we enter these Last Days enemies will rise up against us and prevent us from carrying out the commands that God will give us. The enemies can be either internal or external. The Prince of the Air will do all he can to thwart us in our duties. Our minds will be a target for him as he will attempt to crush our spirit and destroy our ability too soldier on for the Lord. He will use all the means at his disposal and some more that we have never experienced to trip us up. 2 Corinthians chapter 10 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. .

Externally we will face organisations, government departments, the city council, and our schools and so on all opposed to our calling in Christ. But remember our struggle is against the spiritual forces that will array themselves against us. 2 Corinthians chapter 2 -But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ

How will we handle this onslaught? The Children of Israel up to this point had no combat experience. But they had one advantage – God was on their side and he had caused the enemy to be afraid of them. Remember Satan is scared of us, those of us that have been washed and sprinkled with the blood of Jesus. Satan shakes in his boots when confronted by a believer filled with the power of God. Therefore we can face the coming days with confidence as long as we bring every thought and imagination in our minds and make them subject to the mind of Christ, along with a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Notice that there were no taking of prisoners – if we find that the enemy has sneaked through our defences and into our minds we must totally destroy that sin. We cannot go into these Last days defeated by our weak attitude.

Thirdly they were Obedient . As the end times draw closer there will be one aspect that will distinguish those believers in Gods army that will triumph and that is Obedience. Obedience will be much more critical during these times as the world will be in confusion while many people will also be in confusion. Discipline will be the one determining factor that will see those faithful survive. Obedience, not in the sense of a fear of Gods wrath, but obedience out of a love of doing Gods will, honed through the discipline that God has trained us through.

As in any army that is fighting discipline and obedience will bring victory. Revelation 14 - This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus. Be glad when God puts you through his training programme for this will enable us to endure the coming days of confusion and despair.

I close with these verses from Hebrews 12 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,6 because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.13"Make level paths for your feet," so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

Today God is preparing us for the coming days – Let us rejoice that God has chosen us to train for his army that he is raising up for the end times. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad.
