The Blessing of the Holy Spirit

I have in my Christian walk experienced the blessing of the Holy Spirit in a lot of ways but lately I can see how much He has changed me and my views on things.... example: I went out to dinner with the girls I work with. Now they all cuss and so on, but normally we get along. We went to this resturant where they have these little tea cups. They are really cute little cups perfect for a little spot of tea. So we were done eating our dinner when one of the girls took the cup and dried it off with her napkin and stuck it in her purse. I said to her "are you being serious!" and she was like "yeah, why not they have plenty." Then one of the other girls was said "you should take two so you have a pair." I was sitting there like this ->. I didn't like this. I knew this was wrong. But they didn't care. We left and all night it was on my mind. Even though I didn't do it I felt as if I should repent. I knew this was wrong. But if it wasn't for the Holy Spirit I probably would have taken the second cup and laughed along side of them. Romans 8:11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. The Holy Spirit is such a blessing. Somedays I get tempted to fall into sin, to do something that is just wrong and the only reason why is because I want to have that feel good feeling, but I will think about doing it and then the Spirit just stops me. I just can't do it. Romans 8:13For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. The spirit helps us do this. It is so amazing to see the difference in us. We have been so blessed as a Christians to have the Spirit to help us and lead us. Romans 8:26,27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. We should not take advantage of the amazing gift we have been given. We should use this for His glory and use it to help us gain wisdom!

One of the parenting books that I have read in the past has a chapter called "it is never ok to do wrong". You hit this one right on the head. I am truly seeing a higher calling coming to the followers of Christ. We really need to set ourselve apart theough the leading of the spirit.

Thank you for the reminder.

It's really hard to do the right thing when everyone else is doing the wrong thing. Good for you, Goldie!

How many kids plead with their parents "but everyone else is doing it". It's that lil red imp that sits on our left shoulder, whispering in our ear. Bet "Mom" didn't let you get away with that plea! She taught you to listen to that lil white angel sitting on your right shoulder, that first whispered, and now may even shout in your ear.

Good for you, golden. And a jolly good hooray for Mom, too!

Blessings,
