The rise of satan

A man with an experience is not at the mercy of the man with an argument. Like a cosmic boom the fireworks began! Seemingly, out of nowhere, thoughts pommeled my mind. The rise of Satan. Jesus Christ never walked the earth. You have been mesmerized. It was group hypnosis, a hoax. Test it. Relinquish this supposed prayer language. If this new language is of God, He will give it back to you. Baptized a warrior became my disclaimer. I was a marked woman from the beginning in 1975. I did not choose this disposition; it was chosen for me. My journey’s theme would remain constant, in this regard, through the many years ahead. In the book War on the Saints this is expressed: “The Bible throws much light upon the Satanic powers, which cannot fail to be discerned by all who search......
Whispers to the heart
Barbara Kankowske

Like whispers to the heart, a small voice speaks . . . He will live and not die... in response to a life threatening crisis. She is OK... in response to worry for a friend late into the night. They are safe... in response to fear for loved ones. The package will get there... in response to concerns over loss or theft. Many times, over many issues big and small, a small voice speaks. . . Is it your voice? It sure sounds like you. Is it your hopeful thinking? Certainly that is there. And yet each time you lift your heart in concern, prayer, thought, you hear the same thing. Is it the voice of the Spirit? This is the walk of faith. It is a path that requires faith, and tests faith. It is a journey of learning, a journey of lessons. In the midst of it is an opportunity for God to show us......
The basis of authority

What is the basis of spiritual authority? On what foundation is it built? Does it come by knowledge? Does it come from learning the right prayer style? Or is there a much deeper work that must be done. After all, if it is spiritual authority, must not growth in that authority come in and by the Spirit? It is only by a comprehensive understanding and spiritual apprehension, assimilated into our innermost being that we are brought into spiritual reality. Scriptural knowledge alone is insufficient to give a believer authority. If it were, would we not see more victory in lives, more power in prayer? All authority is in Jesus Christ alone! In and of ourselves we have nothing. No matter how holy, self-sacrificing, loving, giving and forgiving. No matter if a religious institution elevates one......
The clashing kingdoms

As I sat looking out at the beautiful North Woods my thoughts were all toward the Lord. For more than 25 years this place has been my personal Garden of Eden. Each path is full with memories of my walks in the Garden with God. And yet this time my spirit was stirred in a very different direction. As I looked out at all the tranquility, listening to the wind stir through the trees, I saw a vision and fully felt the passion of it in my spirit. I saw myself as if I were standing right next to the Father, looking outward toward the earth. A passion gripped me and I could hear myself say, "I want to do only one thing. I just want to war! I want to war with an unrelenting ferocity!" Can it be that God is amassing His soldiers and we are waiting for the strategy and our orders to go......
Weapons of war
Barbara Kankowske

Weapons of war In Christ you have authority! You have powerful weapons of war at your disposal. You can change situations and set captives free. There is no better time than now to stand up, take your place, and exercise that authority. I am going to make a bold statement. Everything that is not the will of heaven can be bound, turned around, and forced to loosen its grip if we will persist in one thing. Do I have your interest? God certainly had my attention when He spoke this to me - You need to take authority over the devil on each and every front! It changed my perspective. I saw the need for this one thing above all else. No matter what approach I took in prayer, it must include a stand of authority, claiming both protection and the enemy's defeat, through the blood of the......
The faces of intercession

Recently, as I sat praying, I found myself seeking the solace of a few simple facts. Facts that were simple and yet profound, facts that I could sink into and rest. I thought of the utter hopelessness of the man in Romans 7. Once again, I identified myself with him. I was totally hopeless and helpless without Christ. I thanked God that in my hopeless state He delivered me from the shackles of death. Thanked Him that as I reckoned myself dead with and in Christ, that Christ now lives His life through me. I found additional comfort in the confidence that the Holy Spirit was given to me as counselor, comforter, strengthener, and helper.[ii] In the fact that I am a son of God and can expect to be led by the Spirit of God.[iii] That I can trust in His great ability and not in my ability. I......
Prayer as a mystery

"True prayer is measured by weight, not by length. A single groan before God may have more fullness of prayer in it than a fine oration of great length." C. H. Spurgeon When a friend or loved one is struggling or suffering, I am sure we all feel for them. We feel a burden, a heaviness of heart. If there is any closeness in the relationship, we are not surprised that we seem to carry their burden. But what of the times when we feel heavy or downcast when there is no apparent reason? Have you ever had that happen? Have you ever found yourself in a mental battle of defense? Somehow, you feel the need to examine your every action, looking for failure or fault. Or perhaps a myriad of other accusations arise in your mind. If you pay attention, you may discover that often these......
Stepping up in prayer

"We must begin to believe that God, in the mystery of prayer, has entrusted us with a force that can move the Heavenly world, and can bring its power down to earth." "Our prayers lay the track, down which God's power can come. Like a mighty locomotive, his power is irresistible, but it cannot reach us without rails."[ii] The Bible is clear in the instruction to pray. In this life, many needs and situations that require prayer will present themselves. We know we are to pray about everything that worries us.[iii] Nevertheless, it is important to remain sensitive to the quickening of the Holy Spirit in our spirit. We begin by praying with our own understanding, praying the Word of God over the situation. If, after some time in prayer you sense no quickening in your......
That is not acceptable

Have you ever noticed that black material has a magnetic quality? It has an uncanny ability to attract everything within its near proximity. Imagine what would happen if you wore a crisp new black dress or suit and kept brushing up against fuzzy clothes as you stroked your dog and cuddled with your cat. It does not take much imagination to picture how much lint and hair you would collect. Removal of all you collected would certainly require some determination. With that as a picture, consider how many ideas, concepts, and beliefs you have gathered in your walk as a Christian. Walking through life, we collect ideas and concepts from the natural world's view as well. Perhaps it is time to consider a spiritual lint roller. We often walk around unaware of the beliefs that have become a......
Access permission required

We live in an age of technology. We want access to information with the touch of a few keys. The systems that bring us this instant access, however, require access to us. Although some access is necessary for applications to work, many seek to gather unnecessary information. Most of us regard this need for permission as the price that we must pay to get the service we want. Many times if we read it at all, it is quick perusals at best before we click accept. The wisdom of this is debatable. There is, however, another arena where access is required that is far more critical. That arena is the spiritual realm. As in the natural realm, the spiritual realm has laws. Spiritual entities do not have free access to us. They require our permission. God does not force anything on us. We need to......
