Who said i'd have time on my hands?

Alright, my last blog amongst my friends here was over a month ago. And somehow I expected to have "time on my hands." Epic wrong. I am still unemployed. Thus, I am still looking for a job. How could I not remember that looking for a job is a job? Some days I feel like Job must have felt. Beat up on by his "supposed" friends, Job still remembered that God is ON THE THRONE. Even when his own wife asked him why he didn't just curse God and die, Job again remembered that God is a LOVING GOD! Job reminds me that I have accepted unmerited favor and grace from God. Why can't I then remember that there is a season for everything? This period of pruning will not last an eternity. I am looking forward to my season of growth. The locusts will have to give back what they......
Oye! time, the speed of light and warp speed

Okay, what's it been, like 10 months or something since I've popped my virtual head around CB? Ugh. Not to say that CB has ever been far from my heart, because it certainly hasn't. This ministry is a blessing to so many of us around this rock known as Earth. I just re-read the last blog that I posted on here. It was right after we moved into the new home that God blessed us with having. That completely seems like a decade ago, even though it has been only 10 months. Now, the road of my life has taken a few more turns that will lead to more glory for God. I have faith. I cannot see what is in store, but I can see that God is in control. My doctor and I (along with God's guidance) are trying to figure out if I have bowel cancer or not. The results of the last three blood......
Annoying pop up windows and life

Annoying Pop Up Windows and Life You know, every single time I click on something within one of my emails, such as a link to another website, one of those doggone "pop up ads" tries to open up at the same time. Thankfully, I use a pop up blocker within my browser – so I do not have to be inundated with those awfully annoying critters. And that got me to thinking…(Yes, I know, dangerous for me.) There are times when I am reading my Bible or reading a devotion or simply enjoying some alone time with God, when my spirit is annoyed by something that is trying to "pop up" and push its way to the forefront of my mind. Ugh. Why can’t those annoying "pop up thoughts" just go away?! Oh yes, the ultimate "pop up thought blocker" – The......
What day is it again and where am i?

What Day Is It Again and Where Am I? Okay, you know the old saying, "Life moves at the speed of light"? Well, I can attest that the saying definitely still applies today, whatever day today is. You see, last thing I remember it was the beginning of August. Next thing I know I look around, and according to the calendar, it is now the END of August. Wait a minute, where did an ENTIRE month poof to? The thing about the passage of time is the perception of its passage. One minute will always contain 60 seconds. That is never changing. Just like God. He is never changing. Yet, it’s our perception of those 60 seconds that changes, based upon the happenings and goings on in our lives. One second appears to move as slow as molasses on Christmas morning and another appears to move......
Tired, sore, a broken toe and a joyful heart

Whew, typing that title took enough out of me that I don't know how much of a blog I can write now. I shall do my best, with God's Help. Let's see -- I've been MIA from here for over a week now. EEK I say! Why you ask? Well... We moved into a NEW HOME, all the amazing glory to God! So, when you move it certainly takes a while for your cable and internet to get hooked back up. Yet, that is a blessing too, because then I was able to focus on unpacking and sorting and arranging my home. Yup, I choose to see the positive. About the blessing of the new home -- you see, less than a year ago we were not approved for a home loan on a home that I "thought" I "really" wanted. Sure, it had a "few things" that I would have liked done a bit differently,......
Booyah -- then it hit me!

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God does not have thoughts of evil toward us, but plans of a future and hope. Until this morning I only applied that verse to our temporal lives. How limiting that is! And then in one "ah-ha" moment (or BOOYAH, as Gracie and I like to say) it hit me that our most glorious hope is in the future yet to come -- when we get to be forever in His Glorious Presence. WOW. All the brothers and sisters in Christ, saints from old and saints to come, will be in one amazing congregation, singing praises to Almighty God for He is Worthy. Can't you just hear the harmony of our voices? Whatever I may have to endure on this earth is worth every second of every trial, every moment of pain, every hour of tribulation, every whatever measure of time of which you can......
Getting prepared for the swine flu pandemic

So, part of my job as a member of my mill's HR team is to guide and direct our health services team. We are fortunate to have an on-site triage clinic staffed 24/7 with nurses who report directly to me. Trust me, paper mill work can be extremely dangerous and when your mill is more than 35 miles from any type of medical assistance, this clinic is a critical function of business operation. Back in May when we first heard of this "Swine Flu" most of us just likened it to the "Avian Flu" that has yet to infect a human being. And those of us who thought this way were wrong, very wrong. The next thing we know young men and women are dying in New York. All of a sudden the news waves were rampant to overflowing with the latest information on the Swine Flu epidemic and......
The love of a friend

I sit here this morning in true awe of the amazing community of wonderful people and family we have here on CB. I am wiping away tears of joy as I type this because I know, and I mean KNOW, that God brought me back home here due to the support that I would need from my family here. I am going to thank so many people, first and foremost Our Most Awesome God, Who invested such wonderful talent in John to create this website. John, you are a servant of God who deserves our support in many ways. (Disclaimer, this list is in no particular order, except perhaps having Gracie at the top) Gracie, there is no one like you. You are my spiritual twin, my prayer partner, my beloved sister in God whom I love dearly and am so thankful for the day that God created you. KK, you are my spiritual mom here......
The seven most important people in your life

The Seven Most Important People In Your Life When I went to church this past Sunday morning, I had to go alone. Weird for me, but I was not to be dissuaded from attending services and hearing the message that God has for me. Madison’s teething is making her a tad bit irritable, so Daddy decided he would stay home with her, rather than subjecting the rest of her nursery classmates to her non-stop fussiness. So, off I went to church. The message the pastor delivered to us this week was one of the best ones I’ve heard in a long time, and definitely one that I needed to hear. It never fails to amaze me who God speaks to me in so many ways. Our pastor spoke to us about the seven most important people in your life here on Earth. Granted, God is to be number one at all times, and......
When a big truck takes your lane

So, yesterday morning, I was driving along my normal 37-mile route going to work, just singing along with DC Talk, praising God about being a "Jesus Freak", when the lane I was driving in all of a sudden seemed way over-crowded. Before my very eyes the extremely big tractor-trailer that had been in the other lane next to me (notice I said "had") decided he was going to use my lane, with me still IN IT. And I've seen enough wrecks in my life to know that most little cars can't win a "lane war" with a tractor-trailer. I laid down on my horn, my little car basically yelling at him, "HEY! I'm over here! Get back over in your lane!" The tractor-trailer must have had his ear plugs in his exhaust stacks, for he just kept on taking my lane. So,......
