Can God Use Anybody?
published . 4 min read
Is it true that God will and can use anybody? There is a general saying in the Church where many pastors and many Christians often quote to encourage us to serve God more. They use the example of Balaam in the book of Numbers chapter 22: 21-33 when a donkey has been used which spoke to Balaam 3 times. So many Christians just conclude that if a donkey can be used by God, so therefore any Christian can be used too to serve God in anything? Like in the healing ministry, in prayer ministry, in the children's ministry, etc? To me, this is an incorrect trend of thought and erroneous teaching. God has used the donkey in the case of Balaam because it happens to be merely the only object available. Using the donkey in that moment is an exception, not a norm. Under normal circumstances, God......

Three basic steps to answered prayer
Tan Yeowhwa+

Getting answer to prayer is just 3 basic and simple steps. If we want God to answer our prayers, make sure that we carry out these 3 simple steps. Act correctly and then God will answer our prayers. Nonetheless whether God answers our prayers will unquestionably depend on His will, or whether it's His timing for these answered prayers. So let's do our part and let God do His. By no means can God do our part! Step one is obviously to start praying. This may sound simple but yet there are many Christians who ask other Christians to pray for them but they do not pray for themselves! Strange, isn't it, but that's the way for some Christians who are too busy in their lives, in their career to be interested about praying for themselves, for their family and praying for their......

Go into the world and tell the world

Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” This verse of the book of Matthew is the main motivating force for my street evangelism. There have been times when I feel tired and do not want to go out for such sessions. Yet this verse says we are to go, go out and tell the world about Jesus. It doesn't say we are to wait for someone to ask us about our faith, it doesn't say we are to wait for some suitable time in the future. We are to go out and tell whenever we can. Go now and tell the world, brothers and sisters! Do as it says to do, go out to all the......
When will they show god respect?

I write this blog as I am deeply disturbed about what I am going to relate that occurs for some time. There is this Friday evening prayer in another church that I attend regularly for the last 3 years. As the leader, having heading for last 27 years will begin to share the Bible and even as he prays individually one by one, there are about 30% present who will not pay attention. Instead they will chit chat or bring out their iPad or iPhone to surf the Net. Basically they ignore the proceedings of the meeting. When I bring all this matter to his attention, he cautions that these people may complain to his pastor who is not in favor of his ministry. So he concludes that it’s best to let them do what they want and I should just ‘leave them alone’ and he will endure their......
God reserves the best for us

Yes, God reserves the best for us, especially those who serve Him and love Him sincerely, who obey Him and walk in His ways. Yesterday one sister came back from visiting her daughter who lived in Michigan .She bought some Coach handbags from the factory outlet but they were still in excellent conditions. When I opened the paper bag with 3 clutch bags and one beautiful red handbag, one sister who saw them only chose one yellow clutch bag. Later I examined the remaining gifts closely and decided that the red handbag suited my need .So I took it, leaving the other 2 for one sister to choose who would come for dinner later in the evening. When she arrived, I showed her the 2 remaining bags but she wanted to see what we have got earlier. So I brought out the red handbag to show them. By then,......
The two “thank you” that inspires my life

Yes, there are many thank you that I will receive in this life, but two of them will always inspire me in my walk with God. First is the “Thank you” from our Heavenly Father when I reach the other Shore. When I finish this race, fight the good fight of faith and go back to God, this is what I aspire to be welcomed by our loving Father. I yearn so much to hear Him say: “Thank you, good and faithful servant, thank you for your service for Me”. This is the first ‘Thank You’ that I delight to hear that at once create this captivating motivation for my life now and forevermore. This aspiration inspires me to please God in all areas of my life, to be the person that He wants, to be a joy to our Heavenly Father, always eager to be His loyal and faithful......
Let god has the final say

Recently, a mega church here in Singapore is once again in the limelight but for the wrong reason. Eight of their leading leaders, including the founder pastor have been charged for misappropriation of church funds and breach of trust by manipulating Church funds for the singing profession of the founder’s wife. Since last year, the case has been widely publicized but postponed till now with new added evidences. The devoted followers of the church are exceptionally emotional and so involved that many will attend the week long court hearing each day. At home, many of us Christians will follow the daily report in the news vigilantly. As there are two family members who are their members, therefore there are 2 opposing views on this much talked about lawsuit. One view is against the......
Do what is right in god’s sight

I have been intending to write this blog for many months, but the thoughts are not flowing until now. In the last few months, I feel troubled when close relatives ask for urgent prayers for their crises yet I know that they do not walk rightly before God. I am aware that they do not tithe regularly, they exploit their staff and they are proud and arrogant, always unwilling to help the needy . They have not abided with God’s law in many ways. I have prayed for them but with a heavy heart. Occasionally the answer comes, but sometimes it doesn’t. Why is the answer not coming forth? Many individuals perceive that it’s God’s job and our rightful rewards that our prayers be answered the way we want. As a result, these people consider God as if He is a prayer answering......
More laborers please, lord

I have not been blogging for a while. Sometimes I want to write my thoughts but they do not come out as I want and the thoughts are not flowing as smooth as before. Maybe there are too many issues that bother me recently. First is about the disturbing news from our government, who for some perplexing reasons has presented a White Paper to increase our present population of 5.3 million to 6.9 million in the next 2 decades. It may sound fine to many who live in countries with vast land and expanse but to a tiny country like mine, it’s madness and incomprehensive. We are now one of the most densely populated nations in the world and there are at present 35% of our population being foreigners from the neighboring countries. So why add more? The government argues that as the birth rate......
Need for more laborers for the vast nation of china

I had just returned from a short trip over the Christmas break to Yunnan Province of China which was in south western China near to North Myanmar and Northern Vietnam. Before the trip, I had already intended to bring in some Chinese Bibles and literatures. From my previous trip to Xiamen in South China the previous year which I visited some paternal cousins, I had some vague idea of how the Chinese people would respond to the Gospel. Through a strange event of a 4 hour-long traffic jam in the coach of our trip on our way to Lijang, we met a Chinese couple on the same tour who was from another part of China and then we also discovered that they were Christians. This must be a divine appointment of the meeting of our Faith. This was the first time that I met Christians from China and I was......
