Matt. 25: 31 40 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. “Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' "Then the righteous will......
Welcome to the club

Two or three weeks ago, my 18 year old daughter came into the office to talk. Her concern, 'where she was with God.' She told me, “I'm say and doing things I know I shouldn't and not sure I am OK to talk to God.” I didn't have to take more than one second to respond and say, “Welcome to the club.” Her reply, “I you don't think understand, I've used words not as bad as others but (our human measurement scale)... ” I stopped her right there and said, “Do you think I haven't thought the exact same words or worse during this week, even as I try and walk daily with Jesus?” I reminded her, if I've thought it, I've done it. (Matt. 5:27 28) I know without Kingdom minded thoughts, I'm in a horrible place. Also,......

Luke 17:7 10 "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'? Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'? Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.' " (NIV) I remember this passage spoken from a college retreat in 1980. I have never forgotten it though I don't recall the main point of the message 30 plus years later. I think of the great price and love the perfect Man Jesus, God in the......

Eph. 3:15 21 “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (NLT) This topic has been on my heart for quite some time now, years. Three decades later,......
Our life walked in his spirit can be one of the greatest stories

I Thess. 4: 9 10 “Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. (NASB) I understand why the saints of the cross entreat us greatly to love one another. Through loving God, people, and the brethren with our lives; the world “hears” and sees as written letters on their hearts, Christ lives. How God truly loves people and desires relationship through The Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. II Cor. 3: 2 3 “You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the......

This Blog Should Read: Food For Thought-"Sharing in Christ's Sufferings or Just Suffering?" II Cor. 4: 7 11 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.” (NASB) This passage is one of my personal favorites. As I contemplated it before The Lord, I realized in reading it many......

Eph. 4:1 6 “Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. I thought of two stories this week. A pastor on staff after completing seminary, accepted a position over a college ministry in Connecticut. He asked the group to determine their focus for the year. They chose outreach to foreign students, wanting to share the love of God in Christ ... to those......
Whoever does not carry his own cross cannot be my disciple

Luke 14: 27 30 “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? "Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.” (NASB) Striking in this passage is verse twenty-seven. Whoever does not carry his own cross cannot be Christ's disciple. Seems harsh, how can I bear the load? Don't I need God's help? What is our Lord saying? Bastazo is the Greek word to carry or bear with ones hands. Mathetes translated disciple, means learner or pupil. To learn of and from Christ; we must......

Phil. 4: 5 8 “Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things” (NASB) In Dry Wells, we contrasted how the gods or idols of past, present, and future still desire to exert, maintain, and retain control in our lives. (Joshua 24: 14, 15) Joshua called the Israelites to choose whom they would serve. gods of our......

I Cor. 13:4 8 “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails ... ” At the University of Southern California, a new Assistant Professor nervous and frayed began to teach his very first class. He stumbled through a greeting and attempted to begin a lecture on the material. He was unable to do so clearly. Looking across the large lecture room filled with students produced a sense of panic. Then he noticed a young woman with clear eyes, attentive, warm smile and......
Love like god powder puff or powerful (the loves part 2)

The New Testament gospels and epistles were written in the Greek. Several words are used to describe different loves. This is not intended to be a treatise or extremely in depth look at each. Merely a foundation to examine I Cor. 13: 4 8. To determine the manner, each love may exist or not, in pertaining to loving as God. Eros in Greek is romantic love and the root word for erotic, named after the Greek god of fertility. In the Kingdom of God, Eros is right in physical intimacy expressed between a husband and wife. In consecrating marriage and continue to develop physical and emotional closeness. God intended a husband and wife relationship, to express the mystery of Christ's relationship with the church. Eph. 5:31 32 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be......

Matt. 24:7, 10, 12 - "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes ... At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another ... Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold." (NASB) Reading @watchmanjohn John Knox wall post; I could not agree more of listening to a good expository sermon. Many desire relevance presenting a "watered down" message absent God's word, good only as motivational or entertaining speakers. As we preach truths from God's word, what is the greatest witness Christ lives? My answer - our walk in the Spirit allowing God's love in Christ poured out too others. A speaker may teach on spiritual warfare or......
