“I like your Christ; I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” Mahatma Gandhi. This quote and another ascribed to him “I would be a Christian, if it were not for Christians” purportedly after being turned away from a church door in Calcutta (not British or of high enough cast) had read the gospels and wanted to learn more of this Messiah named Jesus. He never attempted to return to a “church” building. I read these quotes should stop being used as an attempt to get Christians to “do more or be better” . Galatians 6:1 3 “Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself” (NASB) Over the past several days, The Lord has been convicting me of the state of my heart and life as I look around at some who are not followers of Christ. Living lives of greater selflessness, care, giving and humility. I see my 83 year old father who is a non-believer; calls his younger bi-polar brother “in a different world” each week and allows him to talk AT him for 30 minutes.
