Rocky mcelveen - wild men, wild alaska

As most of you know (at least those of you who know me... which if you are reading this, you probably are, as most people do not know about this website) I have a huge passion for reading. It started when I was 13 years old and something just "clicked" in my brain and reading went from being the dread of the world (next to cleaning my room and doing the dishes) to something that now consumes a huge part of my life. An average month for me is 5,000 - 8,000 pages of reading. A slow month is 3,000 - 5,000 and a good month involves me reading 8,000 and 10,000 pages each month. Simply put, I enjoy reading! Awhile back and on a whim (a whim because I rarely buy or read religious books) I picked up a book entitled 'Wild Men, Wild Alaska' written by Rocky McElveen, who owns...
Logos bible software

Hello Everbody! As many of you know, ChristianBlog.Com has been using the "RefTagger" feature that allows you to have the ability to quickly view a Bible verse by simply moving your mouse over any red-highlighted Bible verses. This has been a great addition to ChristianBlog.Com and it is something I use myself almost every time I am reading a blog that has references to Scripture! One of the features of the RefTagger is called "Enable Logos Libronix" which is a feature we have turned off by default, but is very sweet for those who use the Libronix software! The Libronix software is the heart of the "Logos Bible Software" that is the #1 rated Bible software in the world. For anybody who has any of the Logos software installed, you should really take a moment...
Review: krystal meyers "make some noise"

So I decided to do something today I rarely do... that is, purchase music from iTunes. I use to be a huge iTunes guy but since AmazonMP3.Com came around I've not bought hardly anything from iTunes. But it turns out that the new Krystal Meyers CD "Make Some Noise" is only available right now at iTunes. I have been a fan of Krystal Meyers since she got her start - even before she got popular and was known pretty much to locals and people who used her fathers software e-Sword. Anyway, with her new CD out I figured I would check it out and write up a quick review on it! You can check this out at iTunes by clicking here (if you have iTunes install, of course). There are eleven individual songs on the CD, with three additional songs of "Make Some Noise" in three...
Ywam 2007 personal prayer diary and daily planner

There are not a lot of things that I find myself being dedicated too on a day to day basis outside of prayer, work, the Word and such - but one of those few things is using the "YWAM Personal Prayer Diary and Daily Planner" for both help with praying for different people groups around the world, as well as keeping a daily personal journal. I just got an email yesterday saying that the 2007 edition was just released (the 27th year they've published it) and like last year, I'll be buying a bunch of them. I like buying two for myself (one for personal journal, one for a dream journal kept beside my bed), than one for each of my family members, and than about half-a-dozen for different pastors in my area. I have found it's a great Christmas gift, and a great way to help...
The bait of satan, by john bevere

The Bait of Satan, by John Bevere The other day I was down at the local chapter of Teen Challenge to work on some of their computers, do monthly updates, and such. While I was there one of the managers (not exactly sure of their employee structure and titles, so I'll just call him a 'manager') and I got into a great conversation. He and I both experiences some "problems" at churches in the past, that caused us to leave the given churches. While in the conversation he recommended to me a book he was just reading through called: "The Bait of Satan, by John Bevere". He said it was really helping him to push through the hard times he was having and suggested I pick up a copy for myself. Being an active book reader (normally about 5 books a month) I figured...
Ted dekker, thr3e

I keep thinking about buying the book Thr3e by Ted Dekker and reading through it. Today while browsing through iTunes I came across the audio book, but before I bought it ($21.95) I thought I'd see if anybody else has read and/or listened to it. I know that people say Ted Dekker is a Christian, but I've never read anything from him and just wondering how he ties Christianity into his type of books... anybody know? Here is the basic overview of the book: Kevin Parson is driving his car late one summer day, when suddenly his cell phone rings. A man who identifies himself as Slater speaks in a breathy voice. "We're going to play a little game, Kevin. You have exactly three minutes to confess your sin to the world. Refuse and the car you're driving will blow sky...
A new year, a new prayer journal
John B. Abela+

Since April of 1998 I have been using the "Personal Prayer Diary, Daily Planner" published by YWAM Publishing to keep track of my personal thoughts. I have often kept two of them, one for my business & ministry, and a second that stays beside my bed for jotting down dreams, visions and other messages from God while I am sleeping. When the 2006 edition was released a few months back I bought ten of them. Two for myself, and one for each of my family members, in the hopes that they may find them as enjoyable as I have, and do each year. One of the neat things about this version I use is that each day it lists a different people group to pray for. This really helps keep me involved in intercessory prayer, which is a vital key to all believers walk, I believe. Yesterday I was...
Ted dekker - the priest's graveyard
John B. Abela+
published . 2 min read
Two weeks ago Ted Dekker released another book that I just had to pick up, called The Priest's Graveyard. As those of you who have read my previous book reviews know I am a Ted Dekker fan. He ranks up there (for me) with guys like Clive Cussler, Vince Flynn, Dale Brown, W.E.B. Griffin, and Tony Hillerman. It has caused me a bit of trouble at times, such as the last time I wrote a review of his book The Bride Collector three people terminated their account here at ChristianBlog.Com which makes no sense, but such as it is. This latest book by Dekker is really pushing the boundaries, even for me, however. It has a wonderful and masterful start but gets dark and darker with some content that is probably not best for the youngsters out there. It is not as dark as his book Boneman's...

Books i've read in 2010

I thought I would compile a list of my favorite and least favorite books that I have read this year. Not all of them were published this year, but that does not matter, a good book is a good book, regardless of when it is published! Amazing Books: Atomic America - Todd Tucker - This is a book about what really happened in America that resulted in us not having more nuclear power stations. Of all the books I have read this year this was the most interesting book without a doubt. Not because I am all into nuclear power (or against it) but it just really enlightened me to some aspects of the American nuclear history I had no idea about. American Assassin - Vince Flynn - I will admit I have been a Flynn fan since I first discovered him. He is one of the few authors I just cannot wait for a...
Todd bentley, marinating

I listen to a lot of music... it is just apart of who I am I think. Typically I have The Healing Wind or The Healing Streams or Elijah Streams playing in my office, my room, and where ever else I am. These "prophetic style" stations minister to me. The other day I heard a song that just really spoke to me (a lot of them do, but this one kind of put me on the floor) and I just had to check it out on iTunes and listen to it again. The song was apart of the album Marinating (iTunes link) by Tedd Bentley. This album is, without a doubt the best album of 2010! The part of the album that spoke to me was within the song "Intimacy, Fruitfulness & Anointing" and while it is not my favorite song on the album, there was a line within the song that the Spirit used to speak to me....

A look at "logos bible software", version 6
John B. Abela+
published . 10 min read
Greetings Christian Bloggers, Logos Bible Software is an indispensable tool for a lot of clergy and those who really enjoy doing in-depth Bible studies - it also has a place on the computers of Christian bloggers and Christian writers. Version 6 of Logos was recently released and I have had a chance to give it a go for a few months. There are a number of really neat, and useful, new features that I wanted to highlight, that might be of benefit for those who are Christian bloggers and Christian writers. Before we begin, I do want to disclose that I was given an upgrade from Version 5 to Version 6, with the expectations to use it and write a review. I am by no means a Logos power-user, and probably understand how to harness only about 20% of everything that the Logos Bible software offers....
